Rancho Carlsbad Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2016Nice and inexpensive short course
Although the greens and fairways can be a bit rough, this is a great short course that is reasonably priced. I play here a lot with my 11 year old son. It's easy to walk, rarely crowded and an excellent casual place to play. Some of the greens are mounded, like a pitchers mound in baseball, but it makes putting challenging. Don't expect too much and you'll be pleasantly surprised. This is not a fancy country club.
Cimarron Golf Club - Pebble Par-3 Course

Played in July and got a great deal on Golf Now due to the off-peak season in the Palm Springs area. Wasn't as hot a it could have been at this time of year. Had a great round with the wife and our 11 year old son. The course was in great condition and we didn't have to wait at any time for the next tee. Saw a Coyote and some Road Runner birds. What a wonderful place to play. The staff was friendly. Wish they had a cart that served food and beverages on the course. They did have plenty of cold water at the tee boxes.
North/East at Oaks North Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2015Great place to play golf
Had a great time. Me, the wife and our 11 year old like the shorter courses and this one is one of the best in the San Diego area. Great course conditions, got a good rate on Golf Now, and had a fun time. Didn't have to wait at any tees. The weather was excellent and the people that work there were very friendly. Will definitely golf there again

Overall had a fun day. All the fairways were rough and the front 9 greens were also rough. The back 9 greens were in better shape but were mountain shaped. I liked the low cost and easy pace of play. Overall I'd recommend the place to brush up on your short game, just don't expect too much in the way of conditions or challenge.

Good course. Rough was rough and lost a lot of balls. Many sand traps in from of greens. Overall had a good outing, Not many people on the course. Rumor has it they are closing the course, but overall had an enjoyable experience. Not for the beginner.

Well maintained course. Green fairways and nicely maintained greens. Never crowded. Very short, short course, about 60+ to 100 yards per hole. Great prices. Absolutely the BEST deal in San Diego, if you want to practice your short game. Only downside is that you tee off mats, but that is not really a problem. Great place for the beginner or someone more experienced who wants to work on chipping and putting.
They also run a First Class golfing and life skills program for kids named The First Tee/Pro Kids, which I highly recommend for any kid. Relative to the cost of golf lessons, this program is very, very inexpensive.
Glad you enjoyed the pace of play to brush up on your skills!
