Avon Valley Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/12/2014Great course Great value
Avon Valley is a nice course located only 35 mins from Halifax it has a some what challenging old school layout with very speedy greens. I very much enjoyed the course and so did all my playing partners it was our second round of the year there and both were great.
The two negatives I got from my trips there. One they say that they have a practice area but its not easy to get to at all and they dont even sell range balls for it! It seems as though it is for members only. TWO the staff was not friendly at all the lady on in the morning was very unwelcoming and the teenager on in the afternoon would looked half asleep and barley said a word when we asked a question. other then that we got on for a great deal at a great time!
Glen Arbour Golf Course
Played On 07/03/2014No longer a must play in Nova Scotia
As an avid golfer and proud Nova Scotian it is sad for me to say but Glen Arbour is know longer a must play when visiting Nova Scotia. Glen Arbour is over priced for what you get.
The staff is not very knowledgable about there own course and if you ask for some tips on the course you wont get a good answer.
My reason for the poor course condition rating is that even though the course looks really nice it doesn't play very good. The greens do not roll good and the fairway grass is way to long!! It makes the holes play longer then they actually are because you do not get any roll out on your tee shots.
I would recommend staying away from the club house food its average at best and the greater Halifax area has some AMAZING bars and restaurants.
If you're looking for an area to go and put in a few hours of practice they do have an awesome range with a great par 3 course that will get your short game in tune. I would not recommend this course because for $90 a round and 20$ for a power cart its just not worth the cost.
Great comment. I didn't have to write one. Thanks for sharing. :-)
