Redgate Golf Course
Played On 06/29/2018Potencial, lost!
I'm dissapointed that this course is in such bad shape. I used to go there 4-5 years ago and loved going there. If I had rated it then, I would have given it a solid 4 star.
I'm no pro. I'm an 18 handicap and I have played in some expensive and some very cheap golf course establishments. This was hard to watch.
As I was playing, I started to see the sand bunkers with little to no sand in them and that was replaced with weeds. I thought maybe just the first hole. Nope, every single bunker. Without getting into more details it was soo bad.
It's a shame because the layout of this course top rated and competes with the best of them. Yes, only a few holes are pedestrian. but it is a shame Red Gate doesn't pay the money to maintain or to make this a top course to play. Totally run down. If I had taken pictures and posted them, it would have been vendictive on my part (I felt). But I feel I made my point.
I'm not going back until I hear they're renovating OR it was sold to a better company that will make the couse eager for someone to come back again and again.
About the staff... They were very friendly and always had a smile on their faces. THEY should be working at a better facility.

I've been going to challedon fpr a few years now and it never seems to dissapoint. Staff generally friendly and I always get a good deal on the internet. I go 25 miles to play here and worth it, everytime.
Some holes easy but some holes forces you to manage your play carefuly
I will probably go 2-3 times a month. I like to mix it up with other courses. But "The Links At The Calledon" is one of my favorite courses,

After having somewhat of a dry spell (most of july 2016). I could not find brown a dry patch of grass on the course. Well done by the groundskeepers.
Now about playing the course.... it is a long"ish" course but it is open enough that if you were just off a little, you weren't penalized too much. Still makes you behave into hitting decent long shots.
All in all, it was fun to play and nothing to be critical about. Which I can't say about other courses I've played in Maryland.

Played On 06/03/2016Good Value Interesting Layout
If you pay $40 or less it is a very good value. I would only pay $50 at most for this course. however, it is a good layout, interesting holes which forces you to manage certain holes. the course is generally short but narrow. so if your teeing off from the back tees, you better hit them straight. I generally have no complaints for this course. Staff mix review. Some are extremely nice and some are not so nice. maybe snobby is the right word. recommend? absolutely but for right price
