Kingsthorpe Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2022Great experience
Never played it before and as we always enjoy a new track off we went. First plus, car park spaces! Big enough to allow getting gear out of side door! Pro in shop could not have been more welcoming, same for the catering/bar staff. Great breakfast at reasonable price. Pro also let us go out early as tee was clear. Course was good, could not fault the greens, grass still recovering from the extreme summer in a few places on fairways. Only criticism a few more signs to direct to the next tee wouldn’t hurt.
Overall a great day out. Would recommend and we will undoubtedly return.

Recent heavy rain made it heavy going as is on Leicester clay. Greens and bunkers in very good condition. All folk come across, shop, bar and other players very friendly. Good practice area with good bunker and associated green. Overall good facilities but no buggies.

10 hole course on the moors between chesterfield and matlock. Not hilly surprisingly as it is very much 'on the tops'. Like many such courses it can be quite unforgiving as 10-20 yards off the fairway and the ball is lost in deep rough , brambles or woods. Greens not championship but as expected for a high moorland course. It has recently been bought out and the new team are doing very well at improving all aspects. The clubhouse is newly refurbished and all amenities clean and very nice.. reasonably stocked bar and range of hot and cold food available and all staff very friendly and welcoming. Small putting green and 150 yard practice ground and electric trolleys also available. No buggies though as some aspects of the pathways and such not conducive to such but this may change as they do have plans to continue the improvements all round.
Finally the views are spectacular so if your golf is failing you just enjoy the views!!!

Easy walking as flat. Found on oversll good condition. Women in shop very friendly. Has a range and putting green and buggies available. Fairly open and relatively forgiving course so enjoyable for the higher handicapper.
Six Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2018Pleasantly surprised
This course was most enjoyable. Very flat so walking easy and whilst the first few hols were a bit upfield-down field it then got more interesting and picturesque with some very pleasant water features and some quite tricky holes.
Bar was not open when done so restricted to very limited fare from shop but has a couple of bottles and enjoyed sitting on very nice terrace looking down the 18th. For the price overall very good and likely to return.
Course cond I rate as good and greens deceptive with subtle borrows. fairly forgiving on fairways as when wide first cut and spaced trees provide most problems , little deep rough unless seriously wide.
Seacroft Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2017Nearly very good
First the course. Excellent, a real links course with many blind holes, narrow fairways, deep bunkers, very challenging. All in very good condition.
Daunting on some holes where drives and approaches skirt with adjacent houses and roadways. If you want a links course and you live centrally in England well worth the experience.
Club car park is across the road but many seem to park on the road and therefore nearer to club house.
Facilities: Buggys and trolleys available, small putting green and a small (@100yard) practice area but it sits between 1st and 18th fairway with no fences so awkward to use if those not clear. Chap in shop was friendly.
Negative: My wife and I were intending using the clubhouse afterwards, not only for a drink but also food. However the very strict dress code made it impossible. My wife had trainers on so we had to go elsewhere!
Sandilands Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2017Well worth it.
The course was great fun, links feel but easy terrain. Forgiving in that any wide shot you still had a shot due to the openess of the layout. We played on a perfect weather day but even then the on shore wind made itself felt, especially when the ball was high. Testy weather would make it a very different beast.
Staff and members we met extremely friendly. No range or practice area hence 3 stars on that but a small putting green.
