Lely Resort Golf & Country Club - Mustang Course
Played On 01/17/2016Solid layout, wonderful greens
OK, so the day we played followed a night of really bad storms - the course was really wet and it was really, really windy! But, the course held up well. We were on cart paths only, but that was OK. Although the course was really wet, the greens were darn good - firm, fast and true. I would definitely play it again, and recommend it to others.
Good, Fair Layout
All in all, a good experience. I booked on golfnow but still payed a pretty healthy rate ($150). Played as a 2 and got paired up with a nice couple from WI. Course was in great shape, although I'd give the greens a 3.5/5 - good, but not great (not for a high-end resort charging full rate).
Reunion Resort - Palmer Course
Played On 01/15/2016Good conditioned, but a quirky layout
To start, Reunion is a fabulous resort - first class all the way. Its really a pretty place. That said, I believe this is the lesser of the 3 courses. Its short and has some pretty crazy undulations in the fairways. While it is short, its not particularly easy - fair amount of sand and water. The day we played, it poured rain all morning and the course drained quite well throughout the day. Overall, it a good facility, an OK course, but quite spendy (I paid $175).
The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Really fun...really tough! The entire experience is amazing - from the clubhouse, to the golf course, to the service. The course is just amazing. The winds were up and the pace was slow, but we had a blast. If you play real golf rules, you'll probably shoot your highest round of the season - if not of your entire gilding career. I shot 86 and striped it all day. Ugh. The back 9 is pure bliss with a hint of evil.
Little Traverse Bay Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2014Great views, tough greens
Overall, wonderful golf course, staff and restaurant. The condition of the course is well above average. There are a lot of elevation changes. #9 and #18 play straight uphill. The greens are incredibly difficult - be prepared for several 3 putts (and maybe a 4 putt)!
King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village
Played On 04/12/2014Wonderful
Very nice facility, friendly and helpful staff, and the course was in great shape (other than the traps being packed sand at the bottoms).
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes
Played On 02/10/2013Very nice
Good course and good service. Conditions were excellent - all surfaces were above average. Nice practice area. Carts were fast! The only real detraction is the glaring lack of a decent GPS or yardage books. With no pictures of any holes, you often don't know where to hit it or where you can miss it. For a course of this quality, it's hard to believe they'd miss that detail.
Kissimmee Bay Country Club
Played On 2/7/2013If you're in a pinch...
Decent course. Fun layout. Plenty of water. No GPS, Yardage books, etc. Not at all in great condition - very average, at best. Greens were a bit bumpy, but were decent speed. Staff were very nice.
Pleasant Valley Country Club
Played On 10/20/2012Great layout.
Nice Par 3s. Slow, soft greens. Needs fairway traps. Ancient clubhouse, carts and amenities.
Grey Hawk Golf Club
Played On 10/14/2012Great design, horrible condition
This is one of the saddest stories in all of golf. What was once a proud, up-and-coming championship caliber course has become the punchline of bad jokes. Its a fabulous layout - one of the most fun in the entire state. To be fair, the greens are above average. If ball marks were repaired, the greens would be excellent. The tees are decent, although the repair sand needs some seed in it. The fairways, rough and sand traps are all terrible. The fairways are completely burnt up and void of grass, and although they were aerated this fall, the course did not apply new seed or fertilizer. You have to move your ball just to find some grass to hit from. The rough is simply unplayable without 'rolling' your ball. Where there is grass, its choppy and clumpy. You could easily hurt yourself trying to play the ball down. The sand in the traps is low quality dirt. Its crusty and inconsistent. Overall, the course looks bad and plays awful. The ownership does not care about course conditions or quality service. The course staff does the best they can with what they have. The clubhouse staff is friendly, given what they have to deal with. The restaurant has gone completely downhill. And, although the food is generally above average, the service is pitiful. It is now basically a cafeteria with a bar. So, unless you want to play an unrelentingly disappointing course with poor service, I suggest you go elsewhere. Wait until the course and service improves, then go back.
