Laurelwood Golf Course
Played On 06/12/2019New Course Layout at Laurelwood
The new holes are open and renovations are nearly complete. Holes 7-9 are nicely redesigned and the greens are already in perfect shape. The tee to green angle for #7 makes more sense and should play a bit easier than the old layout. #8, par 3 is listed as 151 from the back tees, but plays a bit longer and #9 is a definite birdie hole with eagles likely for big hitters. The course is in beautiful shape and the greens are a challenge for even the best of putters.
DarkHorse Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2016Beautiful course that will challenge all aspects of your game.
This is a beautiful and challenging course that will test all aspects of your game. Missed shots will likely cost you more than one shot and often a lost ball as well, but if you're playing well, good golfers can shoot good scores. The course demands aggressive play, but knowing when to play safe and when to take a chance can be the difference between a good number and a scorecard you may want to stuff quickly in your back pocket. A little out of the way, but the quiet and the scenery and the chance to post a good score on a tough course make it well worth your while.
Auburn Valley Golf Club
Played On 8/22/2013A challenge and a joy to play.
Auburn Valley is a joy to play. Tucked into the foothills, the course challenges players with relatively lenthy par 4's, sloping fairways and well-placed bunkers. No two holes are alike and many holes require precise drives to avoid water hazards or difficult second shots. Missed shots can easily find OB or difficult lies, and the course requires focus and consistent good play to achieve a low score.
Empire Ranch Golf Club
Played On 8/07/2013Good course, poor course management policy.
I've played this course before, and it's and adequate challenge. At ten bucks as a hot deal on golfnow, it is, in fact, a hot deal. However, while darkness now falls at approximately 8:30, sprinklers were soaking both the course and the players by 8 and when we turned to the back 9, flag sticks had already been removed. I understand periodic watering on hot summer days, but full-blown course watering well before darkness is simply a poor maintenance practice and a disservice to golfers. Ardent golfers will play until they can't see the ball. Courses that shew them from the course before the day is over do a disservice to the game and to their clientele.
