After two days of rain COURSE IN TOP SHAPE

Expected sloppy conditions due to the previous two days of rain. Found that the greens were is top shape along with the rest of the course. This is a top five public course in NJ, worth the distance in travel every time.

Excellant Course for all the right reasons

This course has been around a long while. Its worth the drive from the NY Metro Area. Unlike some other larger facillities which boast multiple available courses and you get lost in the shuffle. Bowling Green makes you feel like a member. The rangers help push play along unlike most other courses. They do get busy but at the end of your 4 to 4 1/2 hour round you understand their job. For early in the season the course was in very good shape. Note Greens are on the fast side.

Good Challenge for a Public Course

Maintained Fairly Well. Greens a little on the slow side but tricky given the hilly surroundings. Played this course five times this year and each was a 4 1/2 to 5 hours round which is the only complaint I have. They could use a half way house as the 9&10th holes dont come back to the club house.

OK for the $

Unfortunately the economy has like many local municpal courses has this course somewhat tired. I have read they spent money in renovations. Maybe they did on the greens but not much else. I played the west course and it was inexpensive so I will leave it at that. It's generally crowded so expect 4.5 to 5 hour round. There is some maturity and character in the west course, maybe with more work it will come around in a few years. TBD.

Rio Mar's Two Courses

Ocean Course is the one to play. From the tips, its a strong challenge. There is only one hole (16) that you actually see the ocean but if the wind is blowing it's a very tough par 3 to play. Not very pretty with the low rise condo's on the right but the hole itself is a good challenge. The rest of the course is a solid well maintained resort course. Unfortunately the other course (River) is not taken care of very well. Tee to Green - OK but the greens need alot of repair, also some holes run along the highway and are near some of the poorer sections of town.
