Skaneateles Country Club
Played On 07/07/2017Finger Lakes golf gem
A classic golf course layout in excellent condition. No two holes are alike. Several holes have elevated tees and/or elevated greens. The real test is on the greens with subtle breaks and turns making putting a real challenge. One quirky par 4 hole is interrupted by a road right that runs along the middle of the fairway.
It has a ladder on the tee to see any oncoming cars crossing the fairway. And the opening hole on the course is a Par 3. This is not a boring golf experience and jump at a chance to play this private club.
The Breakers - Rees Jones Course
Played On 01/25/2017Reese Jones at his best
Well-conditioned private layout. No two holes are alike . Several holes have challenging water carries and large landing areas from the tees. The par 3s are fair but a real test of accuracy. One of my favorite courses in Palm Beach County.
Streamsong Resort - Blue Course
Played On 12/16/2016Golf Bucket List?
Although, I enjoyed my golf experience here, the course did not meet my expectations considering all the hype . Wide open fairways,, links like design. some elevated tees are fun aspects only tempered by the slow pace of play. The Par 3 7th is their signature
hole and is a beauty, and with the exception of three or four other holes is not worth the pricey green fees.
Although we had a golf cart we still had to pay for a caddie who did nothing more than give distances. I would like to play the Red Course only if I got a special rate.
East - Private at Drumlins Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2016Not your cookie cutter golf course
This Syracuse U. owned private course is a classic design. Rolling landscapes and picturesque holes and several elevated tees ensures a fun golf experience. The front nine has generous fairways while the back nine goes up and down hills and wooded areas. No two holes are alike. The Par 3
#16th is a unique hole and worth the price of admission alone. The clubhouse is a converted barn.
Has a great Italian bistro open to the public.
Onondaga Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/13/2016A Classic Golfing Experience
Superbly conditioned private layout that has a long history. First class golf on a rolling mature course. Several of the holes have blind uphill tee shots that challenge the first time visitor here. Water a factor on only one hole. After a while the holes start to look alike. Still, jump at a chance to play this classic golf course.
Pompey Club, The
Played On 07/06/2016Pompey showing its age
Because this semi-private club is 1700 feet above sea level if offers lovely views of the valley and a couple of fun holes- a 320-yd 10th hole that is straight down hill
and can be reached with a pretty good drive. Unfortunately, the course has not aged well and except for the greens, the course is not in good condition. Not worth the price.
Yahnundasis Golf Club
Played On 06/26/2016Yahnundasis- "around the hill" is aptly named.
Bar none- this private layout is the best golfing experience in Utica area. Playing this well-conditioned course is like a trip back 100 years.
The rolling terrain and greens set in dells and on knolls adds to its character. The par-3 11th hole is a real test of golf. The rugged back nine punishes poor golf shots. This smartly designed course has its quirks- blind shots, undulating fairways and uphill approaches- but it all blends into the natural environment.
Pine Tree Golf Club
Played On 02/07/2016They don't make courses like this anymore
Classic course design featuring huge fairways and sand traps. Excellent condition makes this a joy to play. Wide fairways encourages you to bomb your tee shots. The men's locker room(on the third floor) is the coolest setup I've ever seen with panorama views of the course and with its own bar. Play this private layout if you get the chance.
The Links At Boynton Beach - The Family Course
Played On 02/04/2016Well kept secret
Nice user friendly golf course. with a layout you never tire of. Par 3s are a challenge depending on your tees. Ever present ranger keeps the pace of play reasonable. Disappointed with condition of the greens though; have been much better in the past. Staff is excellent.
West at Inverrary Country Club
Played On 01/26/2016A One-time beauty that aged poorly
Always interested in playing this course because of its rich golf history but should have been wary of how inexpensive it was. The layout is great but the condition of the fairways is poor with rough patches of grass. However, the greens surprisingly are in good shape. And the design of the Par 3s is a real test of golf. Overall, this once championship course has not aged well- broken car paths- and I would not recommend it except for a trip down memory lane.
The Wanderers Club at Wellington
Played On 10/29/2015Where polo meets golf
You know you are in "horse country" - Wellington fl. when you stand on the first tee. The opening hole runs alongside the polo field/practice facility. It plays as a 420-yd par 4 on on non-polo days and converts to a 180-yd par 3 when the ponies are running. The remaining 17 holes are outstanding in design and condition. The course has lots of waste bunkers because the owner did not want paved cart paths. And that only adds to the charm and beauty of the course. Playing the private Wanderers is a unique golf experience and shouldn't be missed
Radisson Greens Golf Course
Played On 09/23/2015Radisson Greens redux
The beautiful layout and reasonable rates makes this a course a popular choice for Syracuse area golfers.
Tight fairways flanked by trees and extended rough demand accurate drives. The real challenge lies with the often sloping and contured greens. One of the best public golf courses in Central New York and a real test of golf. The signature #3 hole is a beast.
BallenIsles Country Club - North Course
Played On 09/15/2015New and Improved
A major renovation of this private course has made this the most interesting layout of the three 18 hole Ballenisles courses. The North course winds along beautiful lakes and natural preserves. You better have a good bunker game to play this course as sand traps are strategically placed in fairways and around every green. Still generous fairways and true greens make this a somewhat challenging but fair test of golf.
South at Frenchman's Creek Beach & Country Club
Played On 09/10/2015A Golf Course with a lot of character
Excellent private country club layout featuring rolling fairways(unusual for south florida) and strategic bunker placement. Three of the four Par3a are island -like which makes this a beautiful and challenging golf experience. The day I played here NBA legend Michael Jordan and his entourage were golfing behind us. Jump at an opportunity to play this course.
Bellevue Country Club
Played On 08/09/2015100 yr old classic golf layout
This premier private club sits atop the hills of Syracuse offering spectacular views and a real test of golf. Tight tree line fairways are characterized by either elevated tees or greens. Greens are slightly sloped and fast. The club is conveniently located to downtown Syracuse.
Sagamore Resort and Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2015A natural hillside golf beauty
This award winning Donald Ross masterpiece should be on your golf bucket list. The rolling mountainside terrain and severe bunkering makes this layout a real test of golf. Because the course was built on a mountain ridge, most putts break toward Lake George.
How cool is that. Expect expensive green fees, but this is a first class golfing experience as evidenced by the first tee with an outstanding scenic view and is lined by the pro shop and Grill steakhouse .
Twin Ponds Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/01/2015Does two holes make a golf course?
This 75-year old public golf course has not aged well. Some fairways are poorly conditioned and cart paths are in urgent need of repair. However, the small greens are in good condition and run true. The two signature holes- the 17th and 18th- require driving over ponds, and hence the course's name- Twin Ponds; are fun and challenging finishing holes.
Rome Country Club
Played On 07/25/2015Old beauty showing its age but still worth a look
Located at the foothills of the Adirondacks, this course was originally a wide-opened 9 hole layout with brooks throughout. Another nine holes were carved out of up and down hilly terrain consisting of several doglegs requiring more shot precision than the front.
Course has not aged well with occasional bare spots and some eroding cart paths. Still the interesting course design and modest fees merit a visit to this club.
West at Wycliffe Country Club
Played On 07/13/2015A hidden gem
Don't be daunted by the 80,000 sq. ft clubhouse as you drop off your bag. This is a scenic private golf layout that is hospitable and golfer friendly. The course offers 10 different tees, something for every level golfer. It features lush, rolling fairways and an abundance of mounding very rare for most florida courses. Jump at a chance to play this golf club you won't be disappointed.
The Falls Club of the Palm Beaches
Played On 07/08/2015Joe Lee at his best
A Joe Lee design private golf course that is a beauty to behold and in superb condition. The 15th hole is
breathtaking.. But what makes this course unique are the built up greens giving golfers a defined target in what is usually a flat Florida terrain. Because the putting surfaces are more raised you find yourself either putting uphill or downhill most of the time. If you get a chance to play this course do it.
