Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 03/01/2019Nice Course Slow Play
We always enjoy playing Ocotillo however the pace of play was brutal! 5 hours. Waited every shot from the first tee. No Marshall’s. I suspect they don’t have sufficient time between tee times and just put as many people out as they can.
Verrado Golf Club - Victory Course
Played On 02/28/2019Would Choose Founders over Victory
We enjoyed our round however the course was just ok. The fairways were in great shape however the rough is not over seeded so it was pretty hard (firm and bare). The green speeds weren’t consistent. Some were fast and some were slow. The front nine layout is quite good however the back nine is a bit quirky. All in all, the staff are friendly and the experience was good. Not certain it is worth the $125 US. Would prefer to play the Founders at same price.

Played On 03/28/2017Lots of Bunkers
This was our first visit to Ak Chin and we were not disappointed. Everything from the staff to the course conditions was top notch! The only complain would be the green side bunkers could use more sand. Be prepared for the bunkers. There are a lot of them. Price was a bit steep however if you have a Troon card it us quite reasonable! We will definitely try this course again.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 03/27/2017Strong Track and Friendly Staff
This was our second round at Ocotillo this year. It did not disappoint. We played white/gold this time. Having played blue/white previously we were not familiar with gold. There are a number of holes where you need to pay attention from the tee box.
The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Pace of play was very good! The on course marshalls were doing their job yet not in any threatening manner.
Strongly suggest you try this course.
Thank you for the kind review! We hope to see you again real soon!
Lookout Mountain Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2017Another fine day at Lookout Mountain
My wife and I have been traveling from Toronto to the Phoenix area for a number of years now. We generally play a variety of courses during our stay in the valley with prices ranging from $50 up to $200. Lookout Mountain is the one course we make a point of playing every year.
The course offers a variety of tee boxes and has something for all levels of golfer. Over the years, housing has encroached somewhat however many vistas on the course are still spectacular.
The course gets a lot of play yet it is always in good shape.
Staff at the course are wonderful from the bag drop through the pro shop and out to the marshals on the course. We always get a warm welcome as well as several thank-you's throughout our round. Lookout Mountain remains on our must play list!
We can't tell you how much we love reading reviews like this one! Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback and compliments. Please know that reading your kind words make us extremely proud of our team and we will be sure to share with each and every one of them! We truly appreciate you choosing LMGC year after year and hope to see you again next year!
San Tan Highlands

The bag drop staff and the starter (over behind the chuck wagon) may as well not even be there. We did not receive any help with our clubs either from our car or even when it was time for us to search for a cart. The bag drop guys basically said, "carry your clubs over by the starters podium and we can load them on the carts ourselves when carts become available."
The starter is a rude grumpy old man who treated everyone like dirt. He was not helpful nor did he care. We were told by him we could not take our own water or sandwiches on the course as we were expected to buy these from the cart girl (who we never saw the entire round)!!! When questioned about the absence of the cart, the grumpy starter said, not my fault and not to complain as there were plenty of water stations on the course.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 02/06/2017Positive experience
Last year while in Phoenix, my brother in law suggested we play Arizona Grand. We were not able to fit it into our schedule so decided we would try it this year. I played this course many years ago when it was The Pointe at South Mountain. The first two holes were a bit confusing but after that, it really got interesting.
The facility seemed very busy when we arrived so we were prepared for a long day (figured it would be 5+ hours). We were pleasantly surprised.
The staff were all very friendly and service was good. The only negative comment would be upon arrival. The signage for the golf course is very poor. We drove around looking for the bag drop only to find out it is at the lobby entrance. You need to have more signage!
McDowell Mountain Golf Club
Played On 02/04/2016Not an overly long course but it is in great condition.
We played the Thursday of the Waste Management Open which is evidently one of the busiest times. There was also an hour and a half frost delay (evidently also not uncommon the week of the open). All that being said, once we got started, the pace of play was great. We played in 4 hours which it seems is fast for most public courses in the valley.
The staff both in the club house as well as on course we're very friendly and helpful. There was a regular appearance of the course Marshall which helped to maintain the pace.
I would definitely recommend this course

Great course, very windy, many lost balls! Would love to play no wind. Will be back
Lookout Mountain Golf Club
Played On 03/24/2014Awesome course
This was my 4th or 5 the time playing. I had not played it in probably 18 years and was amazed at how many house were now built along the course. Fortunately they are far enough back in most cases and do not interfere.
I was a bit disappointed that a course of this caliber had no GPS or even ice coolers on their carts. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my game
