Cimarron Golf Club
Played On 09/21/2017Sun City Challenge
Cimarron is a great course with a challenging and entertaining layout. A proper mix of long and short par 3s, par 5s that are true three shot holes, and plenty of hazards to navigate on the par 4s.
The course was unfortunately a little more haggard than i have ever seen it - and my bar is set rather high. Sand patches on a handful of greens and fairways are normally expected by the end of summer, but they were very noticeable during our round. That being said, the fairways were generous, the rough was just penal enough, and the greens rolled true. Definitely worth a play before the snow birds get back and hog all of the tee times.
Riverview Golf Course
Played On 05/26/2017Average Sun City Course
Riverview was an enjoyable track. The layout is entertaining with a nice difference between every hole. There's a nice spattering of trees, bunkers, and water giving the eye plenty to look at. The staff was very friendly.
My complaints stem from the maintenance of the course. The practice green was very dead/dying, and it has an extreme gradient to it; which made it basically impossible to get a feel for the greens. The fairways were in rough condition, having an upsetting about of areas where there was no grass. The putting greens (which are difficult but fair when in good shape) were unfortunately a little sub-par.
All that said, it's tough to beat golf for under $20. We will definitely be back for more during the summer months even knowing the conditions aren't perfect.
Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course
Played On 07/15/2016Almost Perfect
Verrado is one of my favorite tracks in the entire valley. Unfortunately they're still not quite up to their usual picturesque standard. It's been about three weeks since they punched their greens, and there was plenty of bumpy/burnt out spots on most of the putting surfaces. The staff and restaurant easily make up for it with their service. Definitely worth a return for the right price in these dog days of summer.
Copper Canyon Golf Club - Vista/Lake Course
Played On 09/06/2015Worth The Drive
We play here at least once a week and enjoy it every time. The drive from the freeways is a little longer than most are willing to make, but the course is always in great shape. Plenty of space for warm up balls on the range. The only issue we have is when they get busy. The starters/marshals easily lose track of groups, and get behind schedule quickly. But once you get to the first tee box it is always worth the wait.
