Los Lagos at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/14/2022Put sand in your bunkers already...
Course is generally good value for a wide fairway slow playing muni. No sand in any bunkers - all hard pack dirt. No one pushing slow play and no one managing the par 3's. Prepare for a slow 5+ hour round unless you are first out. You will wait 20+ mins at every par 3. If you want a well paced or fast round with sandy green side bunkers - look else where. If you want a long, boring slog with zero on course management pushing slow groups - this is your spot.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 07/06/2020Great course!
I played this course and TPC Tournament this weekend and of the 2 - this was the course that had sand in the bunkers, had grass on the fairways that wasn’t burned out, had even tee boxes and had better views. It was also sixty bucks cheaper. And faster, we players 18 in 3 hours as opposed to a five hour slog around. Beat up course. While clearly not as challenging as TPCtournament course, it is the course that I will recommend and revisit when in Palm Springs.

Excellent round, under 3 hours, actual sand in bunkers, greens that roll true, challenging but not punishing. Will go back again.
Glen Ivy Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2020Good Course - great greens
P{layed 8:30 Saturday Morning as a single - the course was already 15+ minuted backed up - even with a starter. This is a nicely laid out course that you will need a cart for to navigate the mountainous terrain and space between holes. The course has some challenging tee shots that require course knowledge and you will need to hit fairways or you will lose balls. Tee boxes are somewhat trashed and fairways were browner than they should be for the price. Greens however were outstanding and bunkers had sand!!! A 5 hour round - but fun and a great 18 where you hit off a cliff. Shot an 83. 1 lost ball on a duffed drive.
Eagle Glen Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2020Hit em straight or bring extra balls
My first time here - this is a great mountain/desert course that has challenging elevated drives and great greens. If you can't place your shots or hit straight - bring extra balls becaue you will lose them. We played in masks for COVID19 and it got to 100+ - so bring water. The staff was great and kept things moving. The greens were slow the day I played and the sand traps are desert dirt - otherwise, this is a very fun challenging track that I will play again. Not for walkers. Played in 4 hours. Outstanding.

Great track, great staff - great golf! This is a challenging course that has elevated T's. and some blind drives so course knowledge comes into play big time. This was my first time here and I thought it was a gorgeous track that made you think and take penalties for missed drives. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly to golfers during the Covid19 crisis and I will definitely go back. If you can't hit fairways - bring extra balls.
Black Gold Golf Club
Played On 02/10/2018Great Course
Black Gold is a tough but fun course where you are challenged with a variety of shots and great greens. The course is a favorite but can get stacked - as any course in So Cal and you have to pick your times accordingly. Great greens, well maintained fairways with actual sand in the bunkers, super friendly staff and an overall great golf experience. Bring extra balls if you are over a +13 player. Worth a round.
Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course
Played On 08/30/2017Meh... Slow kills it.
I got this round at a discount for $29.99 tee ing off at 9:22am. Staff Very friendly and they had a starter and rangers out there - yet this round still took 5 hours. It's just too stacked. Bottom line. I would never play this course and pay over $30. Just not worth it. The grounds are actually pretty decent if they were not so beaten up and abused by golfers not repairing divots, or marking up the greens. This place gets tons of use because of location - so I don't expect any changes for pace of play - or for making it feel less like a long slog watching all the 20+ cappers line up their putts and take five practice swings for every shot. IMHO there are way better places to play for the money. Which is sad because this place has very nice staff and is close to me.

I love this course and will recommend it to anyone playing in Palm Springs. Best bang for the buck by far. Great staff and great Golf! A little something for everyone with great views to boot.
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2017Great Scotts Course At Great Price
Wanted to play an affordable course with my wife and 10 year old daughter that would be fun for me (long enough) and not too stiff for the family (costly and golf snobbery). This was a perfect place for that. A very well maintained course with open fairways, challenging greens (really well maintained) and priced perfectly. Check this place out if you are in Scottsdale and want a fun round that has something for everyone. Will go back. Pace was nice (4.15 hour round - no waiting)
Willowick Golf Course
Played On 05/25/2016A solid 18 for the Money
The Pros here are that this course is local - friendly staff - and has some challenging greens and approach shots. There is zero water here and bunkers are mostly green side and well kept. The scenery is actually not too bad either with tons of birds and mountains in the background. The course is not too challenging for mid - high cappers - but will bore anyone in single digits. The value for the money is worth it for most golfers.
The Cons - bring a helmet. This is the course where you very possibly will be hit in the head with stray drives/iron shots on nearly ever par 4 and 5. The first hole green is a war zone. Especially waiting for the tee box at 2. You are in a triangulation of crossfire on several holes and will here FORE at least 5 times a round on a slow day. You will also hear balls fall out of the sky near you and slam into trees like a pinball without FORE being shouted - so fair warning. This is a flat course with wide fairways - however people will still shoot all over the place. I would never go here on the weekend. That would be a 6+ hour round. Week days are 4.5 hour rounds.
Los Lagos at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/15/2015Course is always PACKED needs STARTER
This course NEEDS A STARTER. It is perpetually stacked. Be prepared for a very long round. Other than that the course is decent and an average course for the money. Get a good deal or pass. Not worth the full price.
Lake Forest Golf & Practice Center
Played On 07/04/2015Super Fun Family 9 Hole
First time playing at this course with my 8 year old daughter and we had a blast. Course was fun - staff super friendly and the holes were perfect for hitters under 150 yards. Avid golfers could play this course with 7-9 iron and wedges and still have fun with the family and the kids. Highly recommend this course though I bet it gets packed at prime time. Wildlife all over this course make it fun. Great off course area for sand trap and pitching practice as well. Go!
