Challenging, Lots of water, and Fast Greens!

Played Heritage Shores numerous times and it is always interesting to see the community slowly being built around the course. Fairways were in great shape, and as I spoke, there is water on just about every hole so be aware. There for the most part are plenty of width to play a safe shot if you hook/slice against your will. Greens were a mix bag and a few had some mix grass and a few shady dead spots but didn't affect play. On the other hand, the undulation and speed of the greens is fast-very fast. Staff were very nice and we had a tire blow on the course and they had us up and going again in 9 mins! Play was very slow (4hrs 45 mins) to play 18 but is expected when your first up after the ladies league tees off. Will be back again and if you haven't, you should.

Sad for a course that has potential!

After living here for 5+ years, I decided to give the course a try. As with other reviews on this course, the tee boxes hadn't been mowed in months. Almost impossible to cleanly hit a ball that is setting 6 inches deep in grass (on the tee box). Two of the greens were absolutely unplayable due to complete coating of goose dung (everywhere!). The layout is good and being a par 3 course (a couple par 4's) there are shots that make you think. Problem is the course doesn't get mowed. Grass higher than 7-8 inches is everywhere and just makes playing unrealistic and not fun.

Nice layout, Greens are one tough cookie!!

Very nice course, lined with mature trees and many houses. Fairways were in great shape, and although only 7 or 8 holes have water in play, you'll want to be tactical with your approach shots there. I'm not a fan of "Hard-n-Fast" greens and that's what you'll have here. Numerous lofted approach shots to center of green that shot forward and off the green. All in all, the greens did roll out true with some moderate undulation to them. I'd give the course an 7.5 out of 10. Wouldn't pay rack rate, but a twilight or Golf Now deal is worth the trip.

Very Nice Course!

I was very, very impressed!! Fairways and greens were in stellar shape. Course has that "wide open" feel but there are the brush and water hazards that keep your mind on hitting it straight. Only one hole, left me scratching my head...The 18th green is a postage stamp with water wrapped around. It's literally a small rectangle. Just seemed weird for a closing hole. Course was busy and the snack bar was closed at 3 p.m. Overall great course and will play again.

Natural Landscape Perfectly Molds This Course!

Was teamed up with a local at my request and was glad I did. Don't know if it is cart only, but I wouldn't walk it...Just about every hole had significant vertical and horizontal elevation changes which require specific tee shots to avoid lateral hazards. Greens were quick, even though they were very wet. Several of the holes were borderline unplayable due to all the rain and snow melt. Would love to play again under dryer conditions. Staff were very nice and 19th hole had some excellent food.

Beautiful Course!!

Due to the awesome rewards program of Golf Now, I had the opportunity to play this premium course "for free"! For being Nov, the course was in stellar condition. An Easterly brisk wind was factor on several holes. Lots of challenges and many "risk/reward" opportunities along the course. Greens were great but were surprisingly slower than I expected. Staff were very polite and made the outing a wonderful experience. Get a deal and go play Lighthouse Sound, you'll enjoy it!

Excellent Course...No "Gimme" Holes Here!

Bayside Resort is a wonderfully laid out tract that offers challenges a-plenty. Fairway bunkers come into play on practically every hole as does water hazards. Definately intimidated by the Par 5 second hole with long water on the right so I left the driver in the bag. Probably most challenging were the greens! Undulation abounds and they were very quick. You will need extra balls at Bayside. Staff was stellar and I was humbled when the score card tallied 47/44 (91). Great course but you better be tactful with every shot!

Beauty of a Golf Course!

Rum Pointe acquires the distinction of being one of the top 3-4 courses on the Eastern Shore and it's obvious why. Course was in immaculate condition. Greens were great and a few had some interesting undulation to them. You can't beat the view on the closing 4 holes. Play was really slow (woefully) and our 4 hr 50 min round left us playing no. 18 in the dark. Great course though and totally recommend...

Was Pleasantly Suprised! Nice Course...

Hooper's Landing provides much more than you would think it would. Most holes, you can "grip it and rip it", but it's your approach shot that needs to be accurate. I was amazed at how the area around most of the greens were set up. Example: hole 1 dog leg right..but...green is protected well with bunkers in front and green is above fairway... no roll up-n-on here. Middle part of round is adjacent to main property and is pretty wide open with a very nice water carry par 3. Only 1 green had moderate damage but overall in good shape. Tasty little course that I'll return to play!

Starts calm, but does the tension rise!!

Eagles Landing is really set between a "tale of two cities". The non-marsh/land holes, a 15 hcp can navigate pars. But get out near the bay and the course takes a picturesqe and challenging turn. If the winds are blowing, any advantage you had "score wise" can be eaten away quickly. Remember to "club up 1 or 2" on the marsh carry par 3 16th. An overall great course and I know now why it's always in the top 3 or 4 courses in Maryland. Greens were in great shape and were probably a 6.5 on a 10 scale as far as speed. Go play

Great Course That will Test You!

River Marsh truly takes the surrounding land features and blends them into a great golf experience. First, you don't get cheated when they say "Marsh" as they come into play on many of the holes. Second, there is a ton of soft white sand bunkers so be tactical with both tee and fairway shots. This course has 5 par 3's including the well known 17th. You want to "club up" on 17 for sure! Greens have a moderate degree of undulation and break. Try to stay below the holes as the speed will easily put you facing a 3-putt. Ever have deer stand next to the tee box and watch your drive? They will at River Marsh! Will for sure go back.

Well Worth the Hour Drive!!

Hog Neck is situated in a wonderful part of Talbott County. The course is laid out perfectly providing elevation changes that will challenge. The greens were quite slick but in good condition. Also, the placement of many of the fairway bunkers are situated along the "average" driving distance. For the long hitters, you can get passed them, but for those 200-250 off the tee, you'll want to be more precise with your drives. The tall pines are a player on a few of the holes, especially on the back. It seemed to me, the course plays a bit longer than you think as I found myself scratching my head on "why" do I have 180+ to reach in regulation. A for sure "Go Play"! A++

Awesome day of golf!!

First and foremost, the staff at River Run from the cashier to the starter made you feel like you were the most important group of the day! The course provides an exceptional variety of scenery and challenging golf and uses the natural landscape to it's advantage. Be mindful to try to stay in the fairway on many of the holes on the back as the grass can be quite thick and ruin your chances of reaching in regulation. The course was manicured almost to perfection. Some of the greens have experienced some dead spots but you can tell they are aggressively trying to fix those. The front nine is pretty wide open and the back more tree lined. Also, some of the holes have incorrect yardage marking on the scorecard but there are placards on each tee box with the correct distance. Overall a great course with great staff! Even the snack wagon made an appearance about every 4-5 holes. Get a good deal and go play River Run!!

Huge Improvement for Deer Run!!!

I first played this course in April 2011 and after the round, "dropped" it from my return list. The ownership and grounds folks have done a stellar job in fixing the green issues. The course is laid out well and the greens roll out true. You get a full array of shots from narrow fairways on a few, to dog leg left and right on others. The Par 3, 13th is a full carry over water to a slightly elevated green and plays 165 yds from white and a testy 191 from the blues. A very challenging hole especially when the winds are up. I was very impressed with how far the course had come back and although I still think their "rack rate" is too high, but with a twilight rate or Golf Now deal, it's definately worth it. Enjoyed the course and had a great day of golf!

Awesome course..Greens need help!

This is the second time I've played Green Hill since last September. The course was in pretty close to "perfect" condition with the exception of 7 of the greens. I couldn't tell if they were burnt or if some sort of disease got ahold of them. Mind you, it didn't affect the entire green. I hope they can find an answer to the green issue because this course is laid out very nice and offers many challenging second shots. If you can get a good deal, I recommend you try it out.

Great Course..Bring your own water!

Enjoyed a great round on the Man O' War course. The course has a great layout and provides water challenges throughout the course. It is truly a "links" style course on the front and mixes with some tree lined fairways on the middle part of the back. Want to experience a "pro-worthy" hole? Tee up from the black on the par-5 600yd+ 14th hole and try to reach in 3. Greens were in good shape and were quite soft. The undulation around the fairways and greens is amazing. I mentioned bring your own water as the course has only one water jug on each nine (located around the 6th/16th hole) and both were empty. This is disappointing as a course of this stature should have 3-4 on each nine. Not fun playing in 90+ degree heat in the afternoon with no water available. Thanks to the starter for moving us up to tee off before a first time foursome. Get a deal and play the course, you'll enjoy the golf.

Nice course!

Having played many courses and trying to figure out what shot/club to use, Nutters is more "no nonsense" in the fact that the basic principle of "hit it where you need to" is the driving factor here. As a 14 hcp, you can score 76 or 90 at Nutters. The par 5 4th can play really long when the NW winds blow. There are only 3 or 4 holes that hitting from blues vs white add any significant issues. When the back pins are in place, the par 3 17th can be a real challenge as your looking at almost 200 yds to a flag on the far right side guarded by tall grass behind the green and bunkers with water short and right of the green. You'll use all clubs on this course and don't be long and right on the jewel par 4 13th, the hard ground prior to the pond will ruin your day! Great course and a superb bargain!

Nice Course with a couple trouble spots.

First off, the staff has done a great job trying to get the course in a "higher" quality condition. Pace of play was great even though the course was very busy. The few trouble spots I mentioned come from two areas. One, the greens are night and day between the front and back. You can attack the greens on the front and they'll hold (were quite soft), but on the back, the majority were very hard and even had one approach to the front edge on 15 that bounced and ran off the back. The other which is not their fault and pertains to the back 9 is all the rain the course got. It flooded a few fairways and are void of grass in a few places, turning them rock hard. Ocean Resorts has a quality course and it's just a matter of time that the fairways return to better condition on the back. All said, don't let it deter you, the course has numerous fun twists and turns and is worth your time. The 10th hole has several ditches and water hazards the require your attention. You'll use all your clubs on this course and look forward to returning on another date.

Don't let the "wide open look fool you"..

Played on a Sunday and was surprised to get such a great rate prior to 1 p.m. I've played the course in excess of 8 times over the last 2 years and was extremely pleased to see the course in such stellar condition. I'll simply say, "if you can hit your targets, you'll score well", for the rest, be ready for a test...
There are a couple holes that play longer than the score card but the par 5, 14th is reachable in two with a 280+ drive (was 5 ft for eagle). Greens quite soft and in great shape. Will for sure come back!!!!

Nice challenging round...Plays longer than you think!

Another great deal with 11 a.m. tee time. Course was in overall great shape. There are a few really nice holes and a couple PGA worthy Par 3's. The course plays longer at times than the score card shows and there are a couple par 5's that you can get there in two with a long tee shot. Only drawback is you'll experience swarms of black mosquito's on several holes but overall a very enjoyable experience.
