Manitou Passage Golf Club
Played On 09/04/2023Course Is Slipping
I used to love to play this track. It has excellent green complexes, great views, and overall is very playable layout. However, the course is not nearly as well maintained as it was a few years ago. The greens fees reflect a course which should be in better condition. The staff were very nice but the 19th hole was only so-so. I can't recommend playing here unless you find a good discounted greens fee.
Klein Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2018Good Course - No Place for full practice swings
Aside from all the traps being unplayable (bad sand base + lots of recent rain + bad drainage in the traps) the rest of the course was in good shape. The biggest negative is the lack of any place to practice full swings before the round. There was once a cage which allowed for some full swings, but it no longer has any netting. So if you need to get some practice in before playing, you will find this pretty unsatisfactory.
Wildcat Crossing Golf Club
Played On 03/27/2018Chewed up and spit out (not me - the greens)
I know that there are drought conditions on the gulf side of southern FL, but that doesn't explain away the horrible condition of the greens/aprons at this course. The greens on the front side were nearly unplayably awful, and the ones on the back were only marginally better. I am glad that I was able to get a "hot deal" for this round. Had a paid full-price, I would have been steaming mad...
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2018Hit 'em straight (or bring a ball retriever)
Lots of tee box choices (which is good). Nice mix of retired/tourist players. Greens were a bit dry and fast, but they rolled fairly true and seemed to be well-maintained. Please note: This track's main hazard is water - which is well-placed to suck up an errant shot. If you're rusty or a "sprayer" this course will require a lot of your reserved golf balls...
Indian Boundary Golf Course
Played On 10/25/2014Too Slow
This course routinely ranks as one of the most-played in the entire Chicago area. The foursomes are sent out at 7 to 8 minute intervals and the groups stack up on the par 3 tees like so much cord-wood. A marshal would help, but there was none to be found (on a SATURDAY afternoon). However, there was a beverage cart, staffed by a young woman who had no problem stopping to sell beverages to groups as they played in the fairway! Very convenient, but very very slow... 5 hours after teeing off, I walked off the course, having played 16 holes...

Blackhawk Trace Golf Club at Indian Lakes Resort - Woodland Course
Played On 04/17/2014Nice Track - Questionable Management Decisions
I played on a weekday afternoon as a single - was paired up with another single and told that we would be playing as a twosome. The starter put us behind a FIVESOME. We were stuck behind this fivesome for the entire 18 holes. Two more twosomes were put behind us. The pace of play wasn't awful (the fivesome moved along at a reasonable pace) - but we waited on every shot...
Klein Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2014Kudos to the Superintendent
This is a tale of two Springs. Last Spring I played Klein Creek several times by mid-April and the conditions were amazing. Last Sunday was my first time out this year - and yes, the conditions were amazing! The greens were solid and smooth, if not very green. The fairways had enough give to allow for confident iron shots.
West at White Pines Golf Course
Played On 08/14/2013Run of the Mill Muni Course
The title says it all. The greens were bumpy (lots of untreated ball marks) and there were several soaked sand traps (caused by over night watering). Layout isn't bad, but the course is as flat as a nearly O'Hare Airport runway. Not bad if it's a hot deal, otherwise, there are plenty of better tracks in the western suburbs.
Bowes Creek Country Club
Played On 07/27/2013A Nice Deal If You have the Time
Bowes Creek offers some bang for your buck if you have the time to invest. The greens fee includes free range balls (ok - they're Pinnacles, but they are round and white) and a very nice grass tee area. A "fairway bunker" practice trap would a nice addition, but that's a minor quibble. They do have a separate pitch/trap practice area which features a deep green-side bunker. The putting practice green itself was very smooth (even after some rain and a Saturday morning's worth of traffic). The course played right at 4 hours on a Saturday. Rangers are out there to keep things moving, and there is a drinks-cart... Nice track with multiple tees to meet any handicap/skill level
Golf Club of Illinois
Played On 07/20/2013Kind of a combination of links and target golf
You can count the trees on this course with your fingers and toes. There isn't much water in play (although 2 par 3 holes require all carry over water). Links style, right? Well, not exactly. The bunkers are USA-style all the way, right down to the thin sand, and there isn't much in true run-up to the greens. I call it a links/target hybrid, and a wonderful place to spend 4+ hours
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your previous enjoyment of our excellent green complexes, views, and playable layout. We apologize for any disappointment caused by the current condition of the course and will take your comments into consideration to improve going forward. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with an even better experience in the future.
