Excellent Winter Course / Practice Facility

I go here often to practice as i think these guys have the best practice facility around and have a pro shop that OMG is a real pro shop where you can actually buy golf clubs not just a wanna be pro shop claiming to be one and offering overpriced knick knacks. The course is very nice and maintained and a pleasure to play im sure the water levels could be better off and on with the signature hole but it's AZ we get our water from another state lol.

I have two complaints that keep this from a better rating. 1st is having carts in by 6pm when there is still almost 45 mins of daylight left WTF? Also closing everything up by 5pm no marshall or anyone to go to for problems such as being harassed on the course or any safty concerns due to angry old metamucilss on the course that like to cheat others when no one is there to police the course i digress. Lastly is over packing the course that leads to angry old men pushing others out of the way so they get more time to play and i get my round ruined. Other than that one of the best golf complexes in the east Valley and the best in AJ but this place should not close up till golf is done for the day regarding carts being in yet almost an hour of daylight to play is almost underhanded just my take.

Great Course / Facilities / same ole same ole!

I got a deal to play this course for the first time and took it. I started coming here a little over a week ago it's close to my house and been driving out of the way for months till i checked this out for practice. This is an above average course and operation for a resort community this size i was surprised. I was amazed by the course conditions and layout one of the best in the east Valley and i read alot of reviews and these guys have great reviews. I also liked regular bathrooms and nice ones buildings not porta johns which is important the older you get ya know :) this course makes me forget im in AZ reminds me of a Colorado course lots green and no desert with rolling mounds around fairways and water with a bridge and stream so cool in the desert. My reference to same ole same ole in title is juat like anywhere else staff some super friendly and some rude or on a power trip all courses seem to have this for some reason but it keeps these guys from a deserved 5 star rating. Gonna call out Hispanic guy in pro shop and Hispanic guy golf pro maybe same guy not sure if he's the pro and works golf shop. Either way pro shop guy never friendly and I'm here everyday to hit balls but more concerning was Hispanic guy on range that works there i said hi he was a few feet from me seemed agitated i picked a spot on the range close to him he did not say hi back or anything just kept looking away like Stevie wonder with his sunglasses staring off at nothingness to avoid contact at all costs so whatever. But as i was leaving he was getting his own cart from the employee only sectiin and talking with coworkers. I was amazed that some like that works at this golf course refuses to say hi back to a customer goes out of his way to make eye contact as well the entire time im at the range. Why work at a golf course if you hate golf clientlel not just him but one starter guy rude for no reason and a pro shop lady or two that need a sedative but like i say this is everywhere for some odd reason other than that some staff great and make you wanna come back. As for the course i think it's fantastic and the best amenities I've seen and i play various places 3 days a week mainly east Valley.

GREAT COURSE!

This is my go to full size course to see where my game is at. Classy well maintained and more amenities than most east valley courses. Starter guy and gal working today both AWESOME! Doing there best to pace the play and very friendly even learned something about my putter today from the starter guy i wish i was better at names but they no who they are i think the gals name was Lisa but if mistaken you know who you are :)

Anyway it's summer so course is really nice for august in AZ. I read reviews before i play a new course and i hope you do too so you can believe me when i say you will have a great experience this was my third time here and even better than the last two. One warning if you play here and hit just off the fairway to the gravel or natural desert edging DO NOT USE A GOOD club to hit out of it because it's like GLASS shards to a club will even scratch steel clubs i used an oldie the first time so no prob but I would have been in tears if i hit my new callaway out of it. It's just the desert out there not the course just trying to warn so you know and can just take a beater club for any edge shots in the gravel.

GREAT COURSE!

Ok i have played this course off and on over the last 20 year's. I can say i have never been disappointed regarding course and course conditions. I read a lot of reviews before I book a course these days and it saved me personally from a disappointing experience or at least i hope and so i write this to assure you this is one of the best kept courses in the east valley. Yes it's short but for me the water hazards can really play on the brain so hence challenging so don't let the yardage fool you. It's great for beginners or to sharpen your game. The upgrades are great and the course is updated glad to see they take pride in their course. Would be nice to see water on the course this time of year and some beverage options outside of the bar but hey I'd much rather see the rates where they are on such a well kept gem. I did like today especially because even the landscapers moved and turned off the mowers while i teed off and waited till i was done to resume, even got some waves from them. Pro shop employees and starter great professional attitudes! Rest of the staff outside what i mentioned could be friendlier but they certainly we're not rude. This course is my go to weekly for the quality value and professionalism keeps me coming back and never is a disappointment!

Love this course!

Me and my brother just got back into golf after 10 years we were reluctant to play here but we were so surprised at all the upgrades and changes to the course it is the best place to play in the east valley and a great value for the money! We plan on playing weekly and the scenery is great for this hidden gem.

Great Value

I have been playing this course off and on for years. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Desert Sands typically is the best value for what you get when on a budget in the east valley. I have never had a problem here and have played this course 50 times in the last 20 year's. Not the most scenic but being able to get out play 18 with a cart for under 25 dollars in the summer makes this course my go to!
