Greens have been Destroyed

WARNING-not worth your money. There is zero grass on the greens because some idiot killed them. This course just had all the greens re-done. How does the superintendent let something like this happen! So sad.

Also, I showed up with my 2 sons. One of my sons is only 5 years old and had never been on a golf course before was just planning on hitting a few range balls with him. Well, the range was closed -not a soul out there other then us and it was 12:30 in the afternoon. I chipped with him for 30 min until our tee time and then saw them open up the range as we headed to the 1st tee box. UNBELIEVABLE. These people are clueless.

If Troon was smart they would get some fresh blood in there. Greens couldn’t have died at a worse time. The course will be worthless until next spring. And that’s only if they decide to re-do the greens again. If they try to just nurse them back to life they will be worse then they were before.

No more free range balls

Course was great as always. Good service and great conditions. Greens are very hard but great to put on. Rough could be thicker in some spots.

Biggest complaint is that the RANGE BALLS ARE NO LONGER FREE! I used to justify the extra $25 to play here over my other favorites in the area, but now that they charge for range balls I’ll probably chose to play elsewhere. Bad business decision Omni. You make plenty of money off the resort guests tee times. You didn’t need to charge for range balls.

That view though!

The course brought back memories of my low country home with all of the amazing marsh views. Also one of the best if not the best laid out courses for my eye that I have ever played. And range balls were free. Staff was very friendly.

Unfortunately the condition was average at best. Greens were Hard, inconsistent and unresponsive. Putts were impossible to read and a well stuck wedge would roll for days.

If it hadn’t been for the condition of the greens and some of the tee boxes I would have given this course 5 stars. Told my wife I thought this course could be special if it had just an average superintendent taking care of it.

No cart girl!!!

Great day for golf

I have been avoiding this course for the 5 years I have lived here because all the reviews say that the greens are in horrible shape and I just don't enjoy a course where you don't know where your put is going. But reviews over the past few months have said the greens were improving and so I went to check it out. Wow, what a beautiful course. Reminded me of the courses back home in the South Carolina Low Country. The greens were extremely slow but I can tell they are just now really coming in so I'm guessing in a month or so the grass will be thick enough to start cutting the greens a little shorter. Over all, loved the course.

Average friendly course

I'd give this course a 7 out of ten. When grading a course about 75% of what I care about is the quality of the Greens. These greens rolled at about a 9 but were extremely soft and actually plugged a few approach shots on the green. They were also a tad thin but for the most part rolled true.
The other big issue for me is price. This course was average price compared to the courses around it, but I definitely didn't feel like I was getting a steal.
Prob won't be back because this course was nothing special and I have plenty of courses closer to me of the same value. But if someone living in this area asked me if they should check it out Id send them their way.

Great course even in horrible weather

From tee to greens this course was the most well kept course I have played in Ocala. my expectations were low because it had been raining for 36 hours straight but the course wasn't even soggy. Greens were on the slow side but they putted true. This course has zero water, huge fairways and greens. But the scores don't get to inflated because of the distance of this course. But I enjoyed not losing any balls and playing off the fairway all day

Greens and staff need help

The greens were impossible to read because of all the sand and poana (weeds) on the green. The fairways were actually decent and the tee boxes were fine. I was also impressed with the quality of the sand in the bunkers.

This course would have gotten a great review from me if it hadn’t been for the horrible greens. There were places on the greens that would have required a drop had your ball landed in that area.

I enjoy this course because it is one of the few in town that has a more open layout. It is a friendly course for golfers who tend to draw or fade inconsistently. But with an horrible putting surface a par can turn into a double bogie just like that! :(
