Royal Hawaiian Golf Club
Played On 10/04/2018Great views but greens disappointing
The course is basically tucked into the side of the mountain. The views are unbelievable and my wife took a boat load of pictures. That being said, I was a little concerned as we were driving up to course. The maintenance crew was throwing sand onto the greens. The greens had not been punched, they were just muddy. I don't mean just one or two greens, the entire 18 were the same way. Large spots on every green that had no grass and in my opinion were un-puttable. I really had no chance of making a putt over three feet. The rest of the course was beautiful, so it doesn't make sense that they couldn't maintain the greens. The tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were well maintained. You will never get a flat lie in a fairway, but that is how the course is set up. One would definitely need to play this course a few times to know what club to tee off with. Overall, a little disappointed with the course considering the amount of money I paid. Would not go back, should have went to Turtle Bay.
Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/21/2012The couse can be very challenging based on the tees you select.
I play this course several times a month, so I know it pretty well. A few of the greens were looking pretty bad with some kind of fungus. Number one and eight greens seemed to be the worst. Otherwise in good shape for the fall. The greens are alway difficult to read and get the correct speed. Three putts are common. Some of the bunkers could use some additional sand.
