Santa Maria Golf Club
Played On 01/13/2018Very Nice Track
We played in extremely cold conditions but the course was fun to play. It is not a very long course but the greens have some challenge to them and the course has trouble on quite a few of the holes.
This is a course that you can score low if you keep the ball in play and can make a few putts. The course has good bunking but they were under repair when we played so I really couldn't tell if they would impact scoring.
They have a very nice set up for practice and the speed of the practice area is similar to what we saw on the course.
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek
Played On 01/05/2018Staff Omitted Vital Information
What a great piece of land for a golf course. Problem is they forgot to tell us that even though they were charging full price two of the holes were not available to play. On top of that the vast majority of the greens were in very bad shape with huge areas of grass missing or recently sodded over. The fairways were extremely sandy and several of the holes also had damage from what appeared to be flooding. This club realistically is $20-25 club in its current condition.
Beaver Creek Golf Course
Played On 12/23/2017Great Public Venue
I really enjoyed this course. The practice facility was very nice, the staff was extremely nice and course was in good shape even though it had rained the day before we played. The greens were in great shape for winter play and we a bit slow but still rolled out fairly consistent. This course is pretty much wide open so you can get away with some loose shots but it also provides a decent challenge for all levels of player. We had a great time playing this course.
Greystone Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/16/2017Challenging Track
I love the greens at Greystone. Even in winter they are fast and true and will hold a shot if struck well. You do have to pay attention to slopes and grains on these greens or your putt can get a away from you.
This course is set up to where you can select the difficulty by which tee boxes you play. Many of the holes are tight and many of them have trouble. It is one of the best winter gold courses that I have played in the area.
Carter Plantation
Played On 12/09/2017Great Golf Destination
There is a lot to like about Carter Plantation. The course layout is very good and it is a course you can walk. The greens are in great shape and are just a little above average on speed.
The course allows you to play a lot of different shot shapes and is fairly open so its fun. The course was wet so it played a little longer than normal but still can score. This is a course I am looking forward to playing once the weather gets nice and the grass is growing.
