Lakes/Fairways at Centennial Golf Club
Played On 10/04/2023Need Rangers
Generally, a great course but when they go Cart Path Only it may be best to avoid it. A lot of walking from cart paths a long way from the fairways. That said, it’s doable. The problem lies with the pace of play. Usually not much of an issue but when it does come up there’s no ranger around to push the play. Last round we had to quit as darkness rolled in and we had four holes to go after being on the course for almost 5 hours. When we finally drove into the clubhouse we saw the last four holes vacant with not a golfer in sight. Our two foursomes ahead of us was incredibly slow.
Fix that one issue and we recommend this course highly. Always in great shape with true greens. Just remember, better short than long on approach. Good food, good staff.

This course is challenging with rolling faireays and quick greens. It’s well maintained and the staff is great. Unfortunately, this season is apparently going to be its last as the place is closing down. A real shame and area golfers will be missing a great track. Get a round or two in before it is no more.
Patriot Hills Golf Club

This course plays up and down the hillsides. Greens are fast but very fair and roll true. There are times your play will be something short of driver off the tees, even on a longer hole. Fairway lies are generally good and the tee boxes are in good condition. Last hole is a good place for a close match to be decided.
The staff at this course are very personable and even the conversations with clubhouse andstarter personnel are enjoyable. Nice guys all.
Definitely worth playing.
Somers National Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2019Great course but......Need a Ranger on busy days
We've played Somers National many times and generally the pace of play has been great. On July 5, however, the course was fairly busy and we were playing behind two foursomes that may never have actually been on a golf course before. [the starter actually advised them that they needed to maintain the pace of play after watching first tee play]. After watching eight players look for eight balls in the woods for long stretches, we finally left the course after six holes and over two hours.
We'll still be playing as the course is challenging, great condition, fast greens, and the people working the course are very nice. Definitely a great place to play. But......ya gotta get a ranger out there on busy days!!!!!
Somers National Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2019Very Challenging Course
Straight is better than long here. Quite a few doglegs that don’t need driver off tee. Greens were a bit inconsistent with some considerably faster than others. Tee boxes could use a little work as few were level. It will take a couple of rounds to learn the course and course management is a must with subtle and not so subtle risk-reward choices to be made. All in all, the place makes you want to come back because you just know you could have done better!!!
Putnam County Golf Course
Played On 05/24/2018Good test of every club you carry
Played here many, many times a year. A good course for walkers, except for the par three uphill sixteenth. After walking the first fifteen holes, that uphill trek takes a bit of doing.
The course is in very good condition. Greens roll true. It's important to take a bit of time and get a good read. Good test of putting skills. Subtle [and some not so subtle] breaks can give for a three putt real easy if you don't pay attention . And the greens are faster than they appear to be.
Eighteen holes that require eighteen different strategies.
Everyone you'll come in contact with there is great.
Pace of play last round was very slow, but that round was the exception rather than the rule. Our two preceding foursomes were nice guys who may have just started playing recently so......they appreciated our patience.
All in all, this course makes for an enjoyable golf day.
Beekman Country Club - Highland/Valley
Played On 05/21/2018The Rough is ROUGH!!
Very good course with three sets of nine. Each combination offers different challenges. The greens are in great shape and read and roll well and true. Have played there very often these past several years. The personnel at the course are very nice people. Very personable!!
Weather the past few days has prevented cutting the rough so be prepared to do a bit of searching if you lose the fairway! The ball sits down in the high rough and is difficult to locate.
That said, it's my fault the ball is in there. I the guy who missed the shortgrass!
All in all, a great place to play. You'll enjoy it.

Played On 08/15/2016Do Yourself a Favor
Have played here man, many times. Good conditions and challenging golf course. Accuracy, not power, is key. Small but receptive greens. But.....do yourself a favor!! Take an extra few seconds and get a good read on the greens. If you aren't a regular who knows the greens, three putts could be a common theme for the round. All in all, a very good course.
Falkirk Estate & Country Club
Played On 06/11/2015Challenging but fair
It definitely helps to know the course. Many spots where course management is vital. Greens are in great shape and roll true. Take the time to read the green as the breaks are more than they look at first glance.
Manage your shots and you'll score.
