Kinderton Country Club
Played On 09/05/2020Hidden Gem - Classic Donald Ross Design
Kinderton Country Club is a classic Donald Ross design near Lake Kerr in Southern Virginia. It is truly the type of course that is both challenging and scoreable for players of all skill level. While it is not overly long or challenging off the tee, the small greens will test your accuracy and ability to leave it below the hole. If you do so, the Bermuda greens roll true without being ridiculously fast. Signature holes in my mind are 6, 10, 17, and 18. Pricing is $40 for a weekend time, $2 for a small and $3 for medium range balls, and snacks at the turn are only $0.75! This is a fun, must-play if you’re in the area or vacationing on the lake!
Ugolino Golf Club
Played On 07/02/2019Ugolino - A Hidden Gem of Tuscany
My dad and I took a taxi about 30 minutes outside of Florence to Ugolino and found a short, challenging course with tiny greens and spectacular views of the Tuscan country side. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating (even arranged us a taxi back to Florence) - between 2 rounds of golf, 2 club rentals, and a cart rental we spent approximately 300 euro. Not only does Ugolino boast some of the smoothest greens we've ever putted on, but also a rich golfing tradition. Be sure to stop by the plaque commemorating Seve Ballesteros' chip in eagle at the 1983 Italian open behind the 9th green!
Pebble Creek Golf Club
Played On 02/06/2017Only played one hole
I played one hole on a Monday afternoon and there was a 15 minute wait to try and tee off at number 2. The staff was kind enough to give me a rain check to come back another time.
