Tried for the 1st time

The course was in decent shape. It had just reopened from its reseeding. I was not thrilled to learn on the 1st tee that it was cart path only, that needs to be communicated earlier and on golf now.

It's much more open than most AZ courses, which makes it more forgiving. Hole 10 is impossibly long par 4 up hill. Two good shots from a mid to high handicapper will not get you home in regulation.

I wouldn't go out of my way to play this course but it was well worth the Hotdeal fee!

Decent course in ok shape

This was my first time playing the course. We played the Black Tees because we didn't know any better but we probably should have played the Scarlet (back tees) because the length was short from the Blacks. If you have decent distance off the tee you can eat up this course. I was on in two on the first par 5 after a good tee shot left with me 187 to hole.

The greens were lightening fast, probably some of the hardest greens I've played this year. If you like a challenge putting, I would recommend this course. The green complexes were large (biggest I've ever seen) and you could easily run the ball 20 yards up from front to back if your shot didn't land soft.

The fairways are in ok shape, given it's now past the growing season. We were paired up with a local who plays the course a lot. He told us they aerated the fairways in the fall and the ground had a fungus problem which left a lot of dead patches of grass. He suggested we move our lie onto to a large patch of grass when in the fairway, I would suggest the same!

Other than that, be careful on holes 10 and 12. They are blind tee shots with a creek running across the fairway near the landing zone if you use a driver.

Also, you must be in position on this course. What makes it tough are all the trees. If you don't land in the fairway you will probably be impeded by a tree branch (if not a row of trees).
