Best Greens in Lee County

The newly renovated greens are in the most perfect shape right now. Overall, the course is in great shape, but the greens are absolutely stellar. I can't over state how true these greens are.

Hidden Gem

This course is a hidden gem in my opinion. The course layout is superb. A little short from the back tees at 6,450 yds, but plenty of strategic water and bunkers to make you play to your strengths. Some of the best set of Par 3's in the county too. You'll hit just about every club in the bag. Course conditions were excellent especially considering we had 8-inches of rain in the preceding week. I booked this on GN for a great rate and the pro even apologized for having to cancel my booking from the week before. I couldn't believe he remembered and he even gave a honest explanation which I didn't expect. The starter was super friendly as well. I like playing here because they treat you as a member and the course is always in great shape. Pace of play was outstanding in the afternoon.

Great Experience Despite Maintainence

Although the recent verticut greens were not mentioned on the GN site when I booked the tee time, I know if I had called ahead they would have certainly mentioned it. In fact, it was the first thing I was told when I want to pay for the round. Plus, if you're familiar with golf course Maintainence schedules you know this is the time of year for this at most courses in the area this time of year. Besides, they had a great discounted rate for that reason. And we were just trying to get a practice round in anyway (working on ball striking, preshot routine and course management. Tees and fairways were in excellent condition. The reason I still have 5-stars for course conditions is because the fairways were still that good AND every other time I've played here the course has been in superb condition.

Also, the food at Braxton's grill room is excellent. Very friendly staff.

The starter was great even on a day where he was probably bored out of his mind because it wasn't busy at all. And they didn't even charge my second tee time because Juniors Play Free (under 18) Can't beat that!!!

Prestine and Challenging

Course is currently in excellent condition. Greens roll perfect. Undulations on a few of them make for some difficult pin placements. I played her 7 years ago and the course has grown in beautifully. Practice facilities are great too. One thing that wasn't mentioned on the GolfNow site was they do not accept cash. Pace of play was good and they do stay on top of that situation well.

Enjoyable Round

This facility never disappoints. The staff is very friendly. The clubhouse and locker rooms are on point. And course conditions very good. There are some holes with fairway sod work being done. But, overall the course is in really nice shape. Greens are quick and hold well struck shots. Not the most interesting layout, but very playable. Generous landing areas with strategically placed bunkers make for a fun round of golf.

Excellent Municipal Facility

This place reminds me of the courses I grew up playing in South Florida as a kid in the 70' - 80's. I've driven by this course many times and it looked like a decent layout, but never looked all that greatly maintained. With the amount of rain they've had this summer, I will say it's recovered quite well. The fairways were soft, but not to the point your ball would plug. The greens were in very good condition. We played the front nine and it was a very nice track. No houses on the entire front nine with plenty of challenging holes. Doglegs left and right, tight treelined fairways, strategic bunkering, forced carries.... pretty much everything. $20 for 9-holes including cart. I would like to walk this course too.

Hidden Gem?

I can't believe it's taken me this long to give this course a try. With it being in a retirement community I assumed it wouldn't be worth the time. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is the course beautiful, it provides plenty of challenge for the low to mid handicapper as well. The course is currently in pristine condition. I do believe they allow walking her as well and I would certainly be interested in taking the journey along this picturesque track. I really was blown away by this layout.

Don't Waste Your Time or Money

This course is in the worst condition I've ever seen it. (And I thought last year was bad) From the practice tee, which is nothing more than dirt and weeds.... to the practice putting green, to the nonexistent short game area. (the same short game area that's been going through "renovations" for over a year now. The course is not much better. Regardless of the amount of rain they've had this summer, this course is just UGH! Horrible Horrible conditions. I paid for 18 holes, but called it a day after 9 because I just couldn't take it anymore. When I asked to speak to the head pro to ask about the club's plans to improve the facility I was told by the pro shop clerk he "is not in". A minute later he pulls up on a cart (obviously from out playing) and walks into the pro shop. You would think the lady would've told him I was waiting to see him. Nope. She completely ignored the situation and went back to looking at her phone. Before I knew it, the pro walked back out hopped in his cart and was off to play another 9 horribly conditioned holes. Stay away from this place!

Great as always

I've played Verandah several times and it's always a great experience. This particular time I had a 2:51pm tee time with my daughter on Whispering
Oak. The weather was a slight sprinkle (as it had been raining off and on all day), but the course conditions were still quite good. The best part was we didn't see another sole on the course the entire round. And the staff was very friendly as they always are here.

A Complete Mess

This place always disappoints. I have no idea what the problem is with the management here. The course is never never never in great shape. From the tee boxes to the fairways to the bunkers to the rough to the greens..... Horrible.

It's a shame too because the layout on all 3 nines have potential. Especially the Queen nine. Which is the worst in condition. The Prince has been closed for months for "renovations". Problem is those renovations will not be nearly enough AND will never be kept up with anyway. So what's the point really. It's the same old story with this place.

At least they've somewhat straightened up the pro shop. Last time I was here it looked like a storage closet with merchandise all over the place. It doesn't help that the head pro is either sitting in his office eating or (more often than not) he's out on the course playing a round with his buddies.

This place calls itself "semi-private" but it has the feel of a low rent muni; at best. And I have no idea why it says "The NEW Royal Tee" on their website because there's nothing new about this place.

And with few other choices in the area they overcharge for a round on this well below par facility.

I will say that a couple of the staff members are really nice. There is a blonde girl and a younger tall dude who both work in the pro shop. They are both really nice. However, the rest of the staff could use some training. And I wouldn't expect them to receive any from that head pro.

Top 5 List

We walked the Red course first thing in the morning after playing the Blue course the day prior. The Red course is the more difficult of the two courses. But, in my opinion, the better of the two designs. Tee shots need to be precise and the greens' subtle breaks are the courses best defenses. The meat of the golf course are holes 13-18. Especially when playing into the breeze as we had on this day. This course is in the Top 5 I've played in my lifetime. Right up there along with Tobacco Road, LaHinch, Old Collier, Etc.

3 hrs 15 minute round for our twosome walking. Done by 11am The caddies were just as happy as we were.

Better Than Expected

I've been looking forward to playing the courses at Streamsong. We walked the Blue course as a twosome first thing in the morning. We had two excellent caddies (Blake and Chew) and the course conditions were perfect; especially for this time of year. The Blue course is much more open off the tee than the Red course. The Blue's defense is without a doubt its greens. They are extreme in contour. You need to keep the ball below the hole and hopefully hit your approach to the same section of the green as the pin. The caddies were very helpful when guiding us through the many blind shots on this course. My caddy in particular was great in knowing when I needed help reading a green and when I didn't. He knew the right times to step in and suggest a different club or shot shape as well. We played in about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Then went back to the lodge and enjoyed the pool and spa.
