Fox Hollow does an excellent job maintaining its grass whether it’s tees, fairways, rough or greens. Unfortunately though, the bunkers were neglected. 5 days since the last rain and no traps were raked. Shame on management as the traps have potential to be outstanding. Wish the fours could be lengthened as well. Too many holes forced to lay up off the tee.

Spook has tons of potential and was in better shape in the past. Yes, there’s been a lot of rain recently but many greens were very bumpy and absurdly slow. Some other greens that get more sun were much better. Traps were inconsistent as well with many being unplayable.

Hope to see improvements for next year or for a later fall round. Overall, it’s still a very solid course/layout.

First time at Richter and was impressed with the layout, staff and amenities. Unfortunately though course conditions were disappointing especially tee boxes and many fairways on the back nine which were very poor.

Course is probably worth a look for locals but not to drive over an hour as we did given the current course conditions.

Very difficult to find suburban gems like Rivervale. Conditions are almost of country club quality especially the greens and traps with an outstanding layout. Oh and the best carts you’ll ever ride in. State of the art GPS with beverage cooler, club and ball washer. Management deserves tons of credit for all the improvements.

Blue Hill is a traditional course with tree lined fairways and many slopes. Greens have lots of undulation as well. Courses like this are enjoyable especially for players wild off the tee where here you will usually find your ball on most errant shots. Always fun playing Blue Hill even though it’s not very long.

Old Tappan is a short course that has some awkward holes. Par 3 3rd had the white tee all the way to right side of tee box with a back right pin. Problem being there is a massive tree blocking the right side of green. 4th hole is a 90 degree dogleg left that requires a 170-190 shot then leaving 200+ for the 2nd shot uphill. 5th is a blind tee shot requiring about a 200 yard tee ball given the dogleg. 6 is a pitch and putt hole about 90 yards to a severe elevated green.

Overall, it’s not the good layout for bigger hitters or if you dislike odd or blind visuals off the tee.

Very impressed with Rivervale. Really does have a semi country club feel especially with their speedy greens. Outstanding layout is enjoyable for any player. Looking forward to returning.

Fantastic club in Bergen county. Great for golfers of all abilities. Very fun layout and tremendous country club like greens. Can’t wait to play Rivervale again.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Rockleigh with substantial course condition improvements. Fairways were absolutely outstanding with a PGA tour feel to them. Super low cut where balls would continue to roll while maintaining lush green grass. Greens were solid and rough was fair. In need of work in certain patches though were grass isn’t growing.

Traps were a mess from recent rain but can’t expect a municipal course to drain them. I do think the traps could’ve been better sand wise as many had a sandbox feel along the upslopes.

Overall, was pleasantly surprised by the improved conditions and will look forward to returning. Fairways were incredible!!

Pace of play was a little slow and many tee boxes chewed up but overall an enjoyable course with an excellent layout. Could easily become a true 5 star course with more attention to tee boxes.

Played at Galloping Hill once before years ago but was pleasantly surprised to see the improvements. Excellent amenities would be an understatement. It’s the best of the best. Layout is tremendous with the only downside being one Par 5 until the final hole. Conditions were very good. Looking forward to returning in the near future. Highly recommended course.

Hudson Hills is an excellent course especially if you don’t mind a challenge. Many outstanding holes with lots of elevation changes.

Pace of play was an issue with 4 groups waiting on the 7th tee but rangers quickly addressed the group causing the backup. Biggest issue was the absurd pin placements which on almost every hole the pin was 8-10 feet from the fringe/rough and often on the edge of slopes. Other than that I love this place.

Very nice municipal course. Definitely recommend it for the interesting holes and very good course conditions.

Hudson Hills is an excellent challenge with an outstanding layout. Many severe elevation changes and difficult greens. Grass is tightly manicured leading to professional like conditions though too many divots and unraked traps. Overall, a must play course if looking for a hilly challenge.
