Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links - Water 9
Played On 07/27/2014Good overall course
Distances here may deceive you, as many of the holes may not be too long, but trees, sand, and other obstacles are well placed. I look forward to playing here again someday. My only complaint as someone who never played here before is that they did not really explain where to get started or where to get carts, etc, they kind of just sent us out there.
Par 3 at Brandywine Country Club
Played On 07/20/2014Excellent overall
Course has been getting better over the last few years, especially the greens. Staff is friendly, and they have a wine bar also and many different beers.
Raintree Country Club
Played On 06/27/2014No gimmicks at this excellent course
Every hole at raintree was somewhat different and presented their own challenges, but the common factor was that you can use driver on every hole besides the par 3's as most of the course is open enough to stay out of trouble. Even so, the terrain and rolling hills make it interesting, along with water on a few holes. I enjoyed a nice day here and plan to get back as soon as I can.
Paradise Lake Country Club
Played On 05/18/2014Beautiful course
The course changes from the front 9 to the back 9. The front is narrow, shorter, but demands accuracy, while the back gets a lot longer but adds some forgiveness. Everything varies enough to really make every hole different and challenging. I wish I lived a little closer and could play here more often.
Roses Run Country Club
Played On 05/16/2014Course needs better drainage.
Compared to courses in the valley in the Akron area, I was surprised by how wet this course was as I have played better conditions on some of those courses even this week after the large amount of rain. Water just seems to lay on it without draining. Most of this course was really not playable, as the grass that was not a large puddle was 6-8 inches long.
Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
Played On 9/25/2013Check to make sure purchase is 18 holes, bring confirmation
We bought a hot fare to play this course I have never been to, and immediately got sent to the back 9 to start since there was an outing going on. We were paired with another twosome which included a very angry guy who threw a club about 70 yards at one point that hit his golf cart after hitting a bad shot, but overall I enjoyed the challenge here with well placed sand and some blind looks to the green.
The only negative is that we bought a hot fare for 72% off for 18, and I knew this time of year we would probably play 13-14 before dark. The course wanted us back in after 9, and when I asked about our reservation being for 18 they informed me that there is a glitch and the reservation should have been for 9 and that any times after 4 pm are 9 holes. The employee was still friendly and provided a voucher to return to play the other 9, so overall I got a great value.
Kent State University Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2012This course gets a lot more difficult back 9.
A good value for the money, and with enough challenges to remain fun and interesting. The back 9 gets a lot longer, and a lot of blind shots.
