The greens were in absolute terrible shape and seemed to be painted to try to cover-up. The round took 5 hours, with no course marshal. There was a marshal playing in the group in front of us who made comments about the slow pace but obviously did nothing about it.

We were the 2nd group off in the morning (6:27 a.m.) and played at an acceptable pace until the 14th hole, where there was a back-up (3 groups) because the Course let the Men's Club tee off on the back nine. I'm sure we paid more to pay than the Men's Club members, but they obviously are more important to the Course Management.

I have played the course when visiting every year for the past 10 years and wanted to get in a quick 18 with my son before getting on the plane to go home. We teed off @ 6:30 and played thru 2 groups before running into a log jam on # 12. Upon asking the beverage lady, I found that an entire group of 4somes had been shotgunned ahead of us. It took 2 hours to play the last 6 holes. After running a pro shop for 13 years, I can say that you don't do that on a Saturday morning unless scheduled so that the players behind cannot catch up. And more importantly, you advise your unsuspecting guests of the situation. This was very unprofessional and when I retire to this area next year, I will not likely be playing Painted Mountain.
