The Worst Course in Arizona

This Course was in Horrid Condition.

All Tee Boxes were bare.
The Fairways were all bare. Just hitting dirt with tinny patches of infected grass.

The Greens were all infected with bacteria in some form or another.

You know the course is going to be horrible. That wasn’t my issue.

It’s the price. How can a golf course I’m this condition even think to charge $55 for a round of golf in the SUMMER.

This course is a $30 course AT BEST.
They either need to charge a more realistic price, OR fix the conditions.

Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve and are working diligently to improve the course. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.

Not what I was expecting.

Based on the reviews and comments here, I had high hopes. I was sorely disappointed. First and foremost, my definition of a “good course” for anywhere between $40-$60 is pretty simple. Tee boxes need to be green everywhere, fairways need to be green and playable every inch of the way, rough can be rough, and greens should be in fair condition.

Today’s conditions were poor to say the least. The tee boxes looked like we were playing directly off the Arizona Dirt. There was hardly any green. And the fairways were even worse. In most areas they were playable and green, however in MUCH of the fairway it was completely brown/orange and rotted away. The fairways were just as punishing as hitting in the rough in Arizona; dirt with no grass and cement for ground.

The greens were horrible as well. First and foremost the greens were smaller than anywhere else in the valley. When I say small, I mean SMALL. Hope you can hit an approach shot like you can throw darts because unless you’re playing on tour, it sure how well you’ll fair here. Also, it didn’t look like the morning crew was out this morning because the greens were bumpy as ever. Completely poor conditions.

Will not be back.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for playing golf at Bear Creek and taking the time to share your feedback.
Your comments were disappointing to read. Please note we are all going through our Summer Transition and while we all have some less than perfect spots, our greens are definitely rolling smooth and true.
Our ultimate goal is for everyone to have a great experience at Bear Creek. Please call the Golf Shop at 480-883-8200 and ask to speak with the General Manager as he'd like to better understand the concerns and make sure he makes this right for you.
Thank you, Bear Creek Management

Horrible Playing Conditions

Living in Arizona, we do not see a lot of rain; especially in summers. I have never played on such a poorly taken care of course in my life. There were no greens; they were referred to as yellows for the day. The course was rock hard and had not seen an ounce of water since last monsoon season of 2018. Putting on the greens were impossible because of how much it rolled. I would not recommend this course to anyone purely based on the playing conditions. There were several Tee Boxes that had multiple holes built into it so there might be another group right behind you hitting in a different direction when you’re on your backswing.

However, I have also never ridden in such clean and nice golf carts. They were brand new and even had automatic parking and a usb charging port in case your phone needed a charge.

Staff was friendly, no cart girl on a Saturday morning.
All in all, might be worth it when the course looks better.
