Course in great shape

My friend and I have played this course a few times over the past 5 years, but not much in the past 2 years as the course a few years ago was getting in bad shape. Went back today to play a round and to check it our. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are now ALL IN GREAT SHAPE.. Ball rolls nicely on the greens. Even though the course is just a par 62 it is not an easy course. Lots of different things to think about when playing this course. All in all we did not score well due to our putting game, but will give the course a try again next week as we liked the pace of play and the condition of it.

Treated like second class customers

My buddy and I played this course today behind 44 women who were playing scramble. Before our tee off time we were putting on the putting green just before the first hole and noticed about 16 women at the 1st tee. Some of them were using hockey sticks to tee off. Yes hockey sticks! Could not believe it and a ranger was there watching them. I went to the Pro Shop to see if we could start on the back 9 to avoid the slow play that we expected. They would not do anything for us. We caught up with the last group of women after just 2 holes and waited on each hole a long time to play. The women in the group before us seem more interested in talking and looking for balls than golfing. There was a couple behind us that were actually going back and playing the hole behind us twice. Saw them do that at least 3 times, that is how slow the play was. After 9 holes a bunch of the women from the groups before us stopped at the club house and we assumed they were only playing 9 holes. It took us 3 hours to play the front 9. So we teed off on 10 happy that they were done. Before we could tee off on 11 a guy from the club house came up and told us we had to wait for these women to get ahead of us. He basically told us that the course was making a lot of money off them because they also were staying at the hotel. So I said "the rest of us out here are just second class customers". And he said yes I am afraid that is just the way it is. He also said you guys booked on Golf Now, why didn't you just call the club house and they would of suggested a different tee time. I told him we didn't book with Golf Now, but used the courses online booking system. Then he said you guys really don't want to be playing this slow behind all these women do you, and suggested I go over to the club house to see if they could put us on the other course they have on the property. My buddy and I both had pretty good rounds going score wise, however when we played the front 9 of the other course it was really wet and soggy and the greens were really slow as compared to what we had played so far and so we both ended blowing a good round. This whole situation left a really bad taste in our mouths so to speak. If the course was really interested in providing ALL their customers with a great golfing experience they should of blocked off 45 minutes to an hour of tee times after this group teed off, not letting anyone start right behind them. Then every one could of had a great time, including the 2nd class customers that did not stay at the hotel.

Pace of play very slow and management does not care

My buddy and I played this course for about the 3rd time in the last 3 months. No starter or ranger resulting in slow pace of play. We had a 5 some in front of us and they moved along pretty well until the 10th hole and then they slowed down. We asked, since we were just a two some, if they would let us through, and they said no because they were having their own private tournament. I called the clubhouse and complained about how slow these guys were and were basically told "don't worry they will play fast." I got the impression that these guys were friends of someone at the clubhouse. After a 3 or 4 more holes, we had 3 other groups waiting behind us lined up watching us tee off after we waited for the 5 some to out of our driver range. Apparently the 5 some were "preferred customers" and all of us other 4 groups waiting behind them were just "chopped liver". We will not return to Baytree anytime soon.

This course is going downhill fast

My buddy and I played this course a couple of weeks ago and then again yesterday. This is a golf and tennis club and the management of at least the golf course, changed over a year ago. At that time the course was and had been always in very nice shape. The greens were slow, however at least you had a consistent roll. The greens were newly replaced and were very nice in condition. Now it is a different story. The greens do not seems to have nearly as much grass on them and they contain lots of weeds and also lots of patches of poa grass. So you do not get a nice roll on them anymore, the balls hops and jumps a lot, so very hard to judge your speed. You can no longer practice your putting before starting your round as the practice putting green has really been trashed. Been that way for at least 2 months. Also the fairways now are getting a lot of weeds growing in them too. It has been very dry here in Florida this winter, however other courses we play are still in very good condition, so one can only conclude that the management of Aquarinia has been letting it go. My buddy and I will not return to play this course at any price until we see reviews that say it is in better shape. It is very unfortunate for the staff as they are nice and friendly, especially the bag guys.

Nice course to play to work on your shorter clubs.

My buddy and I play this course about once per week during the off season. This a par 62 course with a lot of par 3 holes and a few par 4's. No par 5's. We like playing this course because it allows us to use different clubs than we normally use on a longer par 70 or 72 course. The lies are very tight right now, and the greens pretty dried out. Normally the greens here are a bit slow as compared to other courses we play in the area. However, right now they are quite fast, but rather bumpy. Looks like they aerated recently. We don't think this course is worth the regular price of $40+, and only play it when we can get a deal on Golf Now.

Golf was designed to be played on GRASS! Save your money.

I would of given this course zero stars except the staff was nice and the greens were in nice shape. The pros stop there. Now the cons. Of the 18 holes that we played only one green had green grass around it. The other 17 greens had nothing but dead grass and weeds around them. The only thing green was the dollar weed. When I say "around the greens", I mean the area 10 to 15 yards around the green where you would land if you missed the green. Very hard to chip a ball that is sitting on nearly bare ground with dead grass and weeds. Also the rough along all of the fairways were nothing but dead grass and weeds. The fairways were in only fair shape with mostly very tight lies due to dried out thin grass. I would suggest that you save your money and find another place to play. My buddy and I will not be back. We were both glad we did not pay full price for our round.

Nice course except for the starter.

This course is in fairly good shape. The greens are in excellent condition, the fairways need a bit of work as there a lots of spots with weeds and dead weeds with almost no grass under the ball. The starter was a bit of a problem. We booked as a 2 some, but they put us with another 2 some, but that was no problem as they were nice guys to play with. However the starter came up to us on the 9th hole and asked us to pick up our pace. We made the turn in less than 2 hours and never had anyone waiting behind us so all 4 of us were wondering just how fast did he expect us to play. Then on the back 9 he again told one of the other guys we needed to speed up. The guy pointed out to him that we made the turn in less than 2 hours and no one was waiting behind us and that the 3 some in front of us had just left the green when we teed off on 15. We finished our round in 3 hours and 40 minutes and none of us could figure what his problem was with our "slow play". The guy just seemed like he was on some kind of power trip. The round would of been much more fun except for the starter.
