Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/09/2018Great Course - Great Day of Golf
Of all the courses I've played recently, Silver Lakes stands out as a favorite. The weather the day I played was perfect, the grass was sticky and wet in a few spots, but otherwise conditions were great, and the staff was helpful and friendly.
The course isn't too challenging, although its no cake walk. The fairways at times are tight and the greens demanding, but overall, a really fun course, and a great day of golf.
This course is easily worth the 1h drive from Toronto. I'd happily recommend Silver Lakes to everyone!
Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club - Upper
Played On 05/06/2018Fun and Easy Course - Nothing Extraordinary
Overall:
- Fun round with a great pace of play
- The course itself is in fair conditions, but up to par for a public course.
- Lots of hydro wires, and a set of train tracks. Nothing beautiful
- For $20 with a hard, its pretty hard to beat!
Hockley Valley Resort
Played On 09/08/2017Not worth the Drive
I played Hockley Valley on September 8th, and overall, I was fairly disappointed with the course and the facilities overall.
Don't get me wrong, I believe at one point Hockley Valley was a much better course than it was the day I played, but the conditions of the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all poor. There was lots of brush around the tee blocks playing from the blacks, and on multiple holes obstructing the tee shot itself. The greens were quite slow, and in some instances a bit shaggy.
Another thing that seemed quite odd was the par 3s that were extremely elevated. This makes sense because it is a ski resort in the winter, so most of of the time you're playing off the hills, but playing from have what must have been 75ft+ elevation changes from tee box to green seemed less than ideal.
I think if they put more time into the course, improved the overall condition, added a driving range, put sand back in the bunkers, this course could be something, but in its current state, it is not worth the drive from Toronto. There are much nicer courses in the area for about the same price (I paid ~$50 to play).
Indian Wells Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2017Beautiful Views, Slow Pace, Overall Enjoyable
This was my second time at Indian Wells, and overall, I enjoyed myself. The first time I played I was part of a twosome, and we finished our round in under three hours, and beyond the rain on the 17th, it was a great day of golf.
This round of was also good, however, the pace of play was terrible. We had a mid-day tee time, but the Marshal failed to do anything for the two gentlemen in front of us who were taking 10+ strokes on each hole. Their drives went no more than 50 yards, and that was the name of the game, for 18 holes. I would say on average we waited at least 5 minutes per hole.
I believe the slow pace may have been a one time issue as my previous round at Indian Wells was quite quick.
The facilities were great, the course in in good condition, and it was a fair challenge, although not overly difficult.
I would recommend this course for all of the above, in addition to the great view of the escarpment.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and coming up to visit. We're glad you enjoyed your game and hope to see you back again soon!
