Landis Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2020Nice course
This course is a great choice for anyone looking for a stress free round. Green complexes are interesting, challenging, and in very good condition. Fairways have been impacted by crabgrass thanks to Covid-19, but still play well enough. Great staff rounds out a great experience.
Ingleside Golf Club
Played On 08/20/2018Nice short track
Played Ingleside on the tail end of a real soggy stretch of weather that has affected much of the Mid Atlantic region, and the course was extremely soggy with some areas having casual water to contend with. This is a short course that you can play from the back tees, even if you normally play from forward tees at other longer courses. The layout forces you to think before pulling out driver. Often, the wise choice is to play hybrid or iron off the tee, which would still leave you in good position to approach green with a wedge or short iron in to short par 4's. Fairways and greens needed a mowing when I was there, which given the recent weather and course condition, is understandable. Overall though, Ingleside is a nice track I plan to return to; to try and get back some of those shots I left out there. A very welcome challenge.
White/Red at Ramblewood Country Club
Played On 08/30/2017Time well spent
Played Red followed by Blue tracks, instead of planned Red & White. White was closed following a day of steady rain the day before. Ground is saturated, and we played cart path only; resulting in a whole lotta walking. This course is a friendly one, as was the staff. The starter was juggling start times due to White 9 being closed for the day, but was still polite and accommodating. Pace was good, despite all the walking from cart paths. Although the bunkers were soaked, I could tell they're normally well-kept. A good course to develop your game. Greens were soft, well-kept, medium to large, not many ball marks, and easy to putt. Plenty of greenside bunkers to hone your sand skills. Hazards and OB were well marked, as were the fairways. Although individual holes are by and large unmemorable, the positive overall experience definitely is. A good video course tour is on their facebook page. Only negative I have is there is no driving range. My first trip to a Jaworski property, and won't be the last.
Inniscrone Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2017I'll be back
I actually expected this course to play tougher than it did.Seems the generous fairways have a lot to do with that. There's a number of holes with deathtrap environmental hazards, mostly, inescapable overgrown marshy areas. They're really only a threat, though, if you mishit your shot more than a little. Greens pose a moderate challenge. Conditions are really good, overall. The layout flows nicely, but signage could have been better at a couple spots. Driving Range was closed for maintenance on this Thursday, which was disappointing. Clubhouse was very nice. Overall, a really good golf experience; and I'll be doing it again.
Garrisons Lake Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2017Nice value
Had a late morning tee time after a night of severe thunderstorms. There were a lot of small branches down, but the grounds crew were scurrying about picking up the debris. Didn't have any problems with downage as a result. Most bunkers understandably had ponds in them, but were otherwise playable for the most part. They're not in great shape anyway, but hey, it's a hazard...deal with it, right? Fairways and greens drained real well, and course was in remarkably good shape considering the drenching it took. They have a food cart at the clubhouse, but you better check inside first if you expect to grab a bite at the turn, especially on weekdays. Tee boxes were very good (didn't break a single tee.) Fairways were also pretty nice, but were ready for a cut when I played on Monday. Greens ranged from just good to very good, and rolled nicely enough. Had to tidy-up some unrepaired ballmarks, but when is that not the case? A pretty friendly, low stress layout; but not a total walk in the park. If you wander off the fairways on this predominantly tree-lined course, you still have a decent chance of finding your ball. For the $12 I paid for the round, it's a definite 2 thumbs up. If it was closer than 50 minutes from me, I would definitely play this track frequently.
I was there the same day and it was in below average condition and the greens were all pitted with ball marks and surrounded by crabgrass. I guess I just play too many courses in much better shape.
