El Tigre

I’ve played here several times over the years. It’s a nice layout, but the course is not in good shape. It’s off peak season but there were several areas where the grass has grown wild. Greens were burnt and damaged.

Current State of course

Course is usually the best value in PV. At the moment the greens were recently punched and are over seeded. They’re doing a bunch of prep for the Mexico Open. Fairways are also over seeded. Green side there’s a bunch of tight bare lies. Played this course 20+ times and this was the worst shape I have seen it and it’s way overpriced.

2020 May round

This is a great course.the price is too high for this time of the year and the condition it’s in given that it’s the start of the season. Price is justified later in the season but not worth the $135 at this time if year. Staff was great and friendly. Also they need to update Golfnow that the range is closed and that they have a 20 min arrival policy like other courses have to inform the customer.

Don’t waste your time

Had higher expectations for this facility. After reading previous reviews I thought the course would be one of the best in PV. I will stick to the course as it was in very poor shape. Back 9 had some really silly designs putting trees in front of greens and giving you a ten yard window 100 yards out off the tee on a 400 yard par four. Fairways were long and the greens were slow. Save your money and go to the Vidanta courses. You may have to pay for a caddy but you will enjoy yourself which is more important.

Fun place to play and not too difficult

As caddies are mandatory I had a great round here with Hugo as my caddy. Contact the pro shop in advance and reserve him as he’s great. Definitely saved me a couple strokes and was really great company. As for the course I would say it’s fair. If you’re hitting your driver well it’s for the taking. Definitely going back!

Not as advertised

Played the East and south nines in that order. Vastly different from one another. The east’s nines greens, which were not recently punched, were really slow. Probably rolling at an 8. The south nine was recently punched and the greens were sanded. Rolled a little quicker than the east and was a little better. Pro shop staff didn’t say anything and there was no information about course maintenance at time of booking which was 3 days before the round. I paid just over $100 while my partner payed $55. Worst course on my trip and not even close to the 4 star plus rating. Book elsewhere.

Will not go back

First, the course layout was extremely poor due to the fact that you needed to go partial way down a hole and then head backwards to the tees. On the very first hole maintenance staff were on the course and did not acknowledge players hitting in there direction. On another occasion maintenance staff drove up behind us while teeing off and while mid stroke putting.

North course

This course is slipping quickly. I use to be a big fan of this course but it's consistency is awful. Some bunkers were rock hard and not raked while others were maintained. My round was just over 5 hours and 15 minutes and I didn't see one marshall during the round. It's a shame because it's a great course if maintained.
