About

I'm a 58 year old man who began playing golf around the age of forty. I play to a 14 (but it's coming down) handicap. I love playing courses I haven't played before and I get bored playing the same course over and over again.

A lot of fun

The front nine here is exhillerating with huge dunes. The first tee shot is as good as it gets hitting down hill to a right to left dogleg. The back nine is flatter but still challenging. The course palys hard and fast. I thought hole #8 was the best hole on the course with a blind tee shot (aim at the rock that matches the tee your playing from) to a fairway that slopes righ to left. The second shot about 130yds is all carry, a very unique hole.

A working man's course

Nothing fancy but a challenging 18 holes with some par fours on the back nine that run more than four hundred yards. Certainly not a pushover.

The best course I've ever played

Two days earlier we played Royal Portrush and that was a great course with no two holes being even rermotely the same or going in the same diection. We arrived at Rosapenna two hours late for our tee time due to not being familiar with the Irish raods. I thought we had missed our chance to play one of the courses I was looking forward to playing the most. But the gentleman in the pro shop gave us a key and sent us out, telling us to leave the cart behind the pro shop because he had to close up soon. The man turned out to be Frank Casey Jr. who is the owner of the resort. I'm so glad he let usplay because this course is a roller coater ride from start to finish. Wide fairways, thick, thick rough, elevation changes, blind shots. This course has it all. From the tee the fairways look intimidatingly narrow but once you get into the fairway you see that it's actually very geneerous. But keep it in the fairway because the marrin grass will not allow you to find your ball. This course is NOT a pushover but is an exillirating ride from start to finish. If made to make a choice between Royal Portrush and the Sandy Hills course at Rosapenna, I'll take the latter.

Everything I thought it would be.

I don't think I was ever as nervous in my life as when I stood on the first tee at Portrush with all of the caddies watching me hit my first ball of the day. After that I relaxed and took in the beautiful scenery and history of the course. My caddie, Tony, gave me the historical tour of the course. We were blessed with a beautiful day with mild wind and a bit overcast. Even with the benign conditions the course gave me all I could handle. If the wind was up I don't what i would have shot! Every hole travels a different direction with huge sand dunes waiting to eat your golf ball. "White Rocks" and "Calamity" alone are worth the green fee. Don't forget to vist Dunluce Castle while you there, it's only five minutes down the road from the course.

A fun 18 holes

An average course and average conditions. The course plays flat and pretty straight forward for 13 holes. But if your walking on a hot day this course kills you after that. You have a longgggg par three crossing a ravine. Then the last five holes go back and forth over this ravine with the 16th being a bear of a par five with the second shot having to be pin point accurate to thread it between trees and after that your left with an approach that leaves you blocked out by the trees. Good luck on that hole.

two different nines

There's two different nines at The Bucks Club. The front nine is a parkland style with trees lining the fairways. the back nine is more linksy but still trees come in to play. Good conditioned course with the back nine being more challenging. The greens are very undulating and when they're running fast (Spring and Fall) can be extremely challenging.

Grumpy staff

This a good, solid course but the rates and the attitude of the staff left with a bad taste in my mouth. It's a muni but a good one and the staff acts like union beauacrats who are unaccountable for their attitude. I also feel like this course is about ten dollars to expensive for the market. It's ashame because I enjoyed the golf but the rest of the experience made it not worth the time or money.

The experience of a lifetime

I was never as nervous as when I teed off in front of about 30 caddies but I hit the fairway and it was a thrill the rest of the day. The course goes up and down and side to side with towering dunes and bunkers you'll want no part of. We had a great caddy(Tony) who managed to keep our lost balls to a minimum. The scenery with the white cliffs and shore line is special. I didn't give the course a perfect five because hole #18 is a weak par five, straight and flat although I did bring some excitement to it by almost putting my second shot into the parking lot.

Outstanding course

This course is in as good a shape as any public or private course in the Delaware Valley. It's a serious challenge with greens that are like roller coaster rides but they don't go wild with pin placements and the greens are not rocket fuel fast either. There's some long, challenging holes. If your playing it for the first time bring along someone who's played the course before because local knowledge goes a long way at Lederach. Some of the course will infuriate the first time player like the impossible to hold eighth green. This course could qualify as quirky but I think that the fees that are charged here will leave you feeling you got a bargain playing Lederach.

Quality

This an upscale course with upscale rates but it's one that's worth to play once or twice when your looking for a special course to play.
