Waikoloa Village Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2016Trade Winds or Bust
This is a fun course. Wide open holes off the tees which come in handy if the Trade Winds are blowing. Our round was mid day and winds were a steady 20 MPH. The course is laid out to utilize these winds so lots of difficult approach shots into a head wind or wicked cross wind. The course is on the foothills of Mauna Kea at approximately 1000 ft elevation. Very fast greens but quite fair. Number 9 is the number 1 handicap at 540 yards. The sand traps are the big disappointment for this course due to the crushed coral "cat litter" in them. This is the only material that doesn't blow out of traps due to high winds here.
Ancil Hoffman Golf Course
Played On 01/20/2016A beautiful park land style course
Ancil Hoffman Golf Course is a nature lovers dream come true. Deer, Wild Turkey, Geese, Ducks, Squirrels, and Coyotes roam the course. The live oak trees line the course and make accuracy very important. The high handicap holes are their longer holes so long hitters can turn in some low scores. Friendly staff and excellent restaurant bar for before and the ninteeth hole after your round.

Loved golfing here. They changed the routing of holes to make a better experience. The difficult uphill number one is now number 12. A golfer can score here. Plays shorter than 6161 yards.
