Rodway Hill Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2018Reasonable course, few tweaks and it could be nice
The fairway grass length were pretty long especially when the rough was kept at the same length, hardly noticeable difference between fairway and first cut. There aren't many obstacles, the course is pretty open so if you can keep it straight-ish you dont really have much in the way - no fairway bunkers or narrow fairways to contend with, and the greens rarely have a bunker or obstacle to contend with. Equally sparse trees so not too much to contend with if have gone wide of fairway and need to cut back across. Slow very slow golfers out there, if can get to play through them then course plays quick as not too long each hole. The signposting for every hole is very poor, there are times when there is no chance of knowing where you go next, and you are dependant on asking the regulars where to go next - this has NEVER happened on any other course, this one is bizarre in that the signage is all very very poor for a first time player to the course. In terms of facilities then there is a toilet but not exactly one you would relish returning to, complete with blinking light bulbs "which always do that" according to a regular. We didn't try the practice facilities or the clubhouse - everything has the feel of the golfing equivalent of "sunday league football" - it does the job but not exactly something you will rush back for.
