Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 08/11/2021Course is nice, rough is rough.
At a discount this course is worth playing. This architect also designed Ravens Claw in Oaks, PA. (Once ranked in the top 7 public courses of PA). Many of the holes here remind me of his work, but the makeup of sand and pines at Vineyard National are a great alternative. They are doing a fantastic job with tees, fairways and green being very good, true, and fair. Once you get off the main rough, don’t expect perfection all around the course. But we didn’t end up with to many lies that we wanted to throw in the towel. A mix of some tight fairways, with well placed bunkers. Some center fairway bunkers to keep you on your toes. Enjoy this design.
Pierce Lake Golf Course
Played On 06/16/2019Great condition for the weather
It’s been especially wet the last few days, but there was minimal standing water on the fairways and almost none of the greens (only 1-2 low spots on edge locations). Many puddles on the cart paths, better than on the playing area. Didn’t see a single bunker with water. Overall, very impressed and will go back soon to play (rain or shine). Open front 9, with minimal carries over grassy areas, Creeks, wet areas. Back 9 is tight, with many carries from the back tee boxes and some for the front tee boxes. Challenging, but straight forward.
Union League National Golf Club - Sherman/Grant
Played On 07/04/2017Not like it once was
I've played this course multiple times over the past 5 years, but this last time it was not in nearly as well kept as in years past. It's a nice layout of a course. But I won't be returning to play at these prices if it isn't going to be taken care of. I've played much better courses for $20-$25, with their max cost is less than $50. And Sand Barrens would be in the ball park if their fees were equivalent. Tees and greens were fine, but waste areas, sand traps, and some of the fairways were less than ideal. As if they only have half or 1/3 of the staff needed. All the staff was friendly and helpful, I certainly appreciate that.
Wyncote Golf Club
Played On 05/30/2016Tough course
This course is not over the top on amenities, though they have a great pub and a very nice golf shop. When out on the course, the amenities are much more like a municipal course, but the condition of the course and how tough it is brings you back to the fact this could be a private course and you didn't pay much to tee it up. Value for the money is tremendous if you want to play a tough course which is ranked high for a reason.
The Currituck Club
Played On 08/29/2014Great course, great views
We were staying within the Currituck Club as guests, which had favorable benefits to the golfing prices, but golfnow was able to match or beat those prices at times. Course is in great condition. I haven't played too much on Bermuda grass, which was tough on me, but just added to how this course plays. A great mix of holes and a very drivable par 4, which is always fun. Greens were in good condition. Fairways were very nice. Tees were a bit beat up from the staff not moving tee markers around enough and some overgrowth of crabgrass in spots. I've played just as good courses for $45, but also for over $200, so I'm ok with the price and it was enjoyable (but tough) layout.
Braeside Golf Club
Played On 07/19/2014Wow. Great little course. Perfect for the price.
I really enjoyed this course. First time I've played it. Not for those who only want to play the tips from the longest courses. I thoroughly enjoyed the tips from this course. Tight fairways. Open off the fairways, so you won't lose all your balls. A few holes over water. Their 150 posts were spot on. Bunkers were clean, tees were sanded and were great for a public course. Greens were amazingly good and very smooth for a Saturday afternoon. Great for any of their prices. Very friendly staff.
Reddeman Farms Golf Club
Played On 8/13/2013Needs some attention, but very playable.
Most of the course was in great condition, except for one green which was pretty messed up. There had been a lot of rain and the traps were full of water.
Stonebridge Golf Club
Played On 8/3/2013Will return to Stonebridge
Went out at the earliest tee time, which happened to stay a bit foggy for 3 holes, but didn't loose a ball. The green were very true and in great shape. The tee boxes and fairways were in pristine condition. Rough was pretty deep and fairly thick. A great mix of par 3's, par 5's, quite a few short to mid length par 4's, though they all had some features that made it a problem if you mis-hit your drive or second shot. Open enough on most holes to have a bad shot and still be able to play your ball. Tree, bunkers, creeks, and ponds let the course protect itself if you're hitting it wildly or daring to take on the greens from further out. Will definently be back out on this course.
Raven's Claw Golf Club
Played On 6/20/2013Great course
I play a mix of private and public courses in the area, this course is always at the top of my list. The setup of the course is fantastic, but not easy, though if you get the ball in the right places it is very playable and fun. A great value and it is always in top condition.
The Club at Shannondell
Played On 5/25/2013Course in great condition.
Greens were great. Fairways were in great shape. As good as any course I played in the last year. Course is not super long, but back tees are as long as I usually play anyway. Tight fairways. Greens were lush, but relatively quick.
Inniscrone Golf Club
Played On 11/17/2012A great round of golf for the price.
We've gone out with a small group a few times this year and it has been just as challenging even though we get to know the course it is not easy. Some demanding tee shots needed and the greens have their share of difficulties. Fun to play, even when we are not at our best.
