Public golf excellence

This is a fabulous track. The conditions are exceptional and much of the staff is pleasant. Jon, one of the starters is among the friendliest I’ve met at a NY area golf club. For $65 on a weekend, this is a steal. $100 for weekend play is reasonable vs. the garbage in the area. The greens are in great shape and have significant nuances and undulations - above the hole is always a 3 putt risk. Too bad the course isn’t 7000 yards. If it were, it would be a perfect training track. With the ball bouncing, it’s driver W into virtually every hole. Holes 13-14 are spectacular and challenging. Well done team

Spectacular- only issue is pace of play

This is a phenomenal layout and the conditions are better than anything else in the area.

Greens:
Those complaining about the greens are clueless and haven’t played other public courses. Two (tops) have minor issues. The rest of the greens are westchester private CC like. Lots of slopes/ undulations.

Price:
$65 on a weekday and $100 on a Fri- Sun is fair given the neighborhood.

Pace of Play:
I cannot imagine Saturday after 8am. Weekdays even a pre 7am group was painfully slow such that I as a walker could keep up while hitting multiple spare shots to kill time.

Ranger:
The only non-friendly person who drives around and does absolutely nothing. Just drives in circles but never moves pace of play quicker.

Overall:
I love it. Kudos to the staff here. Just really well done, maintained and the experience is wonderful.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

What a piece of $#!¥! This course has a spectacular layout. That is it. Everything else is horrific. Pace of play at ALL NYC area courses is putrid but at least Moshulu, Van Cortlandt and Pelham/Split Rock have reasonable conditions.

They need to shut it down - you’re going to be very irritated if you waste your money. Make the city or whomever operates this is place put $ into it. I’d rather have it shut down than play here. And don’t get me started about the staff rudeness.

ZERO STARS. What a shame (only due to spectacular layout)

If only pace of play moves better

Fabulous course, conditioning, layout, greens and people.

Split tee tee times are not ideal. We started at 9:48am and we placed on 10 right in front of a group making the turn and right behind another. I’d be unhappy making the turn and having to wait for a group. Pace of play has historically been bad with some older members who still rake early tee times despite their bad / slow play.

Everything else is spectacular. I’ll keep coming but get early tee times to avoid the slow play. That won’t matter with split tee tee times on weekdays!

Awful conditions, bureaucratic starters. Avoid all all costs

This is a total dump. The course should be closed. Fairways are not fairways. Tee boxes are torn up and there are many temporary holes. It’s a train wreck and for $50+ it’s a dog track. The starters also need to realize they work at a county golf course. I came up on a slow day and the pro shop allowed me to go out solo - a condition for me showing up. The starter tried to force pair me with two absolute novices and I refused. I finished before they got to 9. Awful course is problem #1. Starters who think they are god is #2. Pathetic that they put money into it. Show up and you’ll be sorry. I’ve played state championships, county tournaments and I can say this is the worst conditioned course in the tri state area. Avoid!!!

We're currently hard at work renovating and improving the course. We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience with us but we hope you'll return in the future to see that all the hard work we've put into the course has paid off.

CONSISTENTLY SLOWEST PACE OF PLAY. Course amzing, pace of play kills it

The pace of play is just pathetic and management has the audacity to not care about it. I had a 7:06AM tee time that they "accidentally" double booked. So the course was backed up already. If you play this course before twilight, you're due for a 5hr round. Golfers in general cannot handle the difficulty of this course but continue to come here. The course is beautiful, challenging and one of my favorites. Management doesn't appreciate that slow play destroys the positive experience. I have never played Hudson Hills in less than 4hr, 30mins, even when teeing off at 7am sharp. If you have a life, go elsewhere. If you like 5 hr rounds, this is your place. Sad - as the course is phenomenal.

We're sorry to hear that you found the pace of play so frustrating. Our course is quite challenging for most golfers and that unfortunately slows play down a bit. We appreciate your feedback and will certainly pass it along.

CONSISTENTLY WORST PACE OF PLAY > 5 HR ROUNDS. SAD, as course is great

This amazing layout is destroyed by pathetic pace of play. Golf should be played with carts in 4hrs 15 mins max or less. There are no rangers and we were waiting at times for 3 groups on one hole (on the TEE BOX!). This round pace is unacceptable and Troon has done nothing to repair it. It is UNPLAYABLE unless I have nothing to do the whole day. It is sad, because it is a true gem of a layout and challenge. I love the design and the conditioning is pretty darn good. Slow golfers MUST be monitored for pace of play. It is not enjoyable to wait on every shot and then get to the next tee to see 2-3 groups lined up.

If pace of play was even fair, this course would be 5 stars...

Improve pace of play to a respectable 4hr 15min pace and I will come back regularly
