Pace of play was dreadful!

I really like this course. The layout is challenging and interesting, without being impossible for the mid handicapper. Greens are consistent and true. Fairways are in good shape. Bunkers are soft and dependable. My only issue was the place of play. Played on a Friday afternoon in the fall with a 12:40 tee time. Had to wait on almost every tee box on the back nine. On some holes, there were 2 groups sheets of us at the tee box. Took us 6 hours to play 18 and not a ranger in sight.

Fun afternoon

Had 11:30 tee time and the starter got us off right away as a twosome. Pace of play was very good...we did not have to wait at any tee box. Flayed the full 18 in a little over 3 hours. Fairways were in great shape. Greens were aerated recently, but still played fairly true and reasonably fast. They are reseeding many of the tee boxes, so they had temporary tee markers set up on many of the holes. Bunkers were nicely groomed and the sand was soft. Interesting and challenging layout with several water hazards sprinkled throughout the course. Definitely worth the price we paid. I will play again.

Worst greens ever.

Course has a nice layout and could offer an enjoyable day of golf....if i wasn't for the conditions of the greens! They were absolutely horrendous! It was like putting in a pinball machine. 18 had a temp green....but all holes should have had temp greens! Save your money...lots of other good courses in the area.

Nice little course

Forge Pond is a short, executive course. But, don't let the yardage fool you. Some of the fairways can be tight. If you go into the woods, you will likely lose your ball in the leaves and pine straw. Water only comes into play on 2 holes. Strategically placed bunkers and sharp dog legs make for interesting shot and club selection. Undulating greens can be tricky, especially in certain cup locations. long distance from holes 2 to 3 and again from holes 7 to 8 make this course less than optimal for walking. Played the course on a windy fall day, so there was a lot of debris and leaves on the course, which made finding the ball difficult at times. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in very good shape, considering the time of year we played. Nice course, especially for a municipal venue. Enjoyable day. Will return.

Getting better

This course languished for many years under a poor management structure. The new owners are trying to bring it back, and their efforts are paying off. The fairways were in good shape. The greens, however, were pretty rough. Hopefully, the course will continue to improve under the new management. Looking forward to playing the course again in the spring when I return to the area

Beautiful Course

Played this course on a beautiful autumn afternoon. The course was in great shape. Fairways were perfect. The greens were in great shape and fast....tough, but not ridiculous Course offers some interesting and challenging terrain. The front nine was fairly wide open. The back nine was tighter and had many more water hazards. Overall, it was a great value. had an excellent day. Would definitely repeat.

Great for beginners

This is a nice little course if you just want to get out and take some strokes. Fairly short 9 hole layout. Play it twice for 18. Flat terrain. Fairways and tee boxes are mostly clover, but I didn't mind. Usually had a pretty good lie. The greens were not to bad, considering we had a fairly dry spell in late August and early September. Only one set of tees (white) no ladies/seniors or championship. There was nobody in front or behind us, so the pace of play was very relaxed. Don't expect Pebble Beach or Augusta. Made for a nice afternoon. For the price, it was great. I'll be back
