Heron Lakes Golf Course
Played On 08/24/2017Really great little course.
First time I have ever played this place. The course is in fantastic condition. The Greens are amazing. Love the layout. This place is no joke, it is a challenging place to play. I wish I lived closer I would play it everyday. With a hot deal this place is the best bargain in town. The staff is really friendly and next time I will try the restaurant.
Pearland Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2017I love this course, not a fan of the members though.
I am torn about this course. I love the layout. The greens are good. Fairways are dead right now from lack of water, but still fun to play. I would rate the course 4 stars. My problem is with some of the members of this course. The last few hand full of times I have I have played here I have caught up to the daily member group. They are 3 groups in a row usually and play very, very slow. Even when they see you waiting for them to get off the green they will go back and take practice shots. They act like they own the place. No Marshall to speed up play. They like to keep their groups together so they tend not to let people play through. I had to skip two holes to get ahead of them. When you do skip a hole and get caught between their groups they get upset. This course needs to either get on these guys about either letting people play through, or get these guys to pick up the pace.
Thanks for your review Zach. I must assure you that the fairways are far from dead. Last week we used a turf rake to remove thatch and leaf tissue from our fairways. This is a common practice for Bermuda in the summertime to help control grain and thatch accumulation. The results are a much better lie and the turfs response to all inputs (water, fertilizer, etc) will be greatly improved as well. Thanks again for playing and look forward to your business in the future.
Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 08/19/2017Wow, what a great course!
My first time playing this beautiful course. Drives have to be precise, narrow fairways and lots of water. This place has the best greens in south Texas. Putts are very true. The staff is very friendly. All around A+++
Glenbrook Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2017Good course, fun.
This is what I would consider your average muni. It is nice, greens are good and the price is fair. People there are cordial and I have made some really great friends on the course. The tee boxes are a bit too firm and can be a struggle to put your tees in the ground. There are a couple really neat holes there I like to play. Very enjoyable course.
La Quinta at Quail Valley Golf Course
Played On 08/06/2017Nice layout, OK shape, challenging.
It rained a bunch while I was there. Made conditions tricky. The rain scared everyone off so the foursome I was in played at our own pace. Bit of a challenging course. The fairways and driving range could be kept up better, but they in no means were bad. Overall very fun course.
Thank you for recommending the course. We're working on the range, so we hope to have you back again.
Texaco Country Club
Played On 07/30/2017This poor course is dying.
Could be a great course, if someone with some money would come in and save it. Holes 11 and 12 got washed out a couple years ago in the Memorial day floods. They were never fixed and never will be. They have had temporary holes out there for over 2 years. It's a shame because 11 was what I considered this courses signature hole, now so over grown it has disappeared. Conditions right now are awful. Greens are a joke. Recently air-raided greens at an average muni are better than these. Grass on a few of the fairways was so high, that it is possible to lose balls. Some of the tee boxes have weeds so high the your tee is not long enough to to prop the ball above them. The bridge on the first hole has crumbled to pieces, so you have to take a detour on holes 1 and 9. The other bridges are shady at best and I like to say a little prayer before driving over them. The carts are hit or miss. I returned one because it was rattling so bad and was very down on power. The replacement I got had no brakes. If you do get enticed to try it out because of the cheap hot deal, bring a lot of beers and think of it like a fancy driving range. On a high note, the people there are nice and because no really anyone plays here you can play a round in 2 hours.
Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
Played On 07/28/2017Best course in Houston.
When you step on to the first tee box this place will blow your mind. You instantly feel like you are playing in a completely different part of the world. Reminds me of playing at some of the beautiful courses at my former home in Colorado. Lots elevation changes throughout, not flat like nearly every other course in town. I love this course. It is challenging, well kept and tons of fun. The price they charge keeps a lot of the hackers away, including myself. Every so often you can snag a $30 hot deal. Pace is fast and odds are you will be paired with someone somewhat proficient. Can't say enough good things about this place, try it you will be amazed.
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 07/26/2017Great course, beware of the club five-some.
I like this course a lot. Every time I have been there the conditions have been great. A hot deal makes this place a total bargain! I was lucky to get out ahead of a five-some last time I was there. Don't expect the starter to do much to stop five-somes. The day I played the starter wouldn't let me go. Then to my surprise his shift must have been finished just before my tee time because he was the fifth person in the five-some playing ahead of me. I got lucky because a person in the starters five-some insisted I go ahead of them, thank God! Other than that it is a really awesome place to play.
Bayou Golf Course
Played On 07/02/2017Not worth the drive from Houston.
The 5 star reviews fooled me on this one. This is not a lower cost Moody gardens. I would consider this an average golf course. Greens are like concrete, so targeting pins is out. Some poor drainage spots on the course leave mud pits in random locations. Random crab grass and ant hills in the fairways. The pace is slowest I have ever seen. Better bring GPS or a range finder, no yardage markers on the tee boxes. The employees are off putting and seem disgruntled. Don't forget the bug spray lots of mosquitoes. On a positive note the price is right with a hot deal, I would play this course again if I lived closer, but it is not worth the hour drive.
Thanks Zach9866934 for the awesome review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us. We hope to see you out here more this year!
