Cohasse Country Club
Played On 07/23/2016Play it if you can
Classic Donald Ross layout, about 100 years old. Only 9 holes but worth the play. Tees are separate 10 - 20+ yards the second time around. Excellent conditions, fairways, greens everything. Despite being in a drought in the area, everything was lush and green. Typical Donald Ross course, elevated greens, false fronts, subtle breaks in all of them. This is a private course but if you can get your pro to make a call and get you on, it's worth it. For those who have played Whitinsville, it will remind you of that. Kudos to the Head Pro Doug, and the Greens Superintendent and his staff. Restaurant is open to the public all the time.
Marlborough Country Club
Played On 10/10/2012On the shorter side but challenging
Great condition. Private but public can play Mondays & Tuesdays. On the shorter side, 6500yds, BUT far from easy. Course record only 6 under par. Several holes play longer uphill. Location of tee shot important. Site of Champions/Senior Tour in '80's. ALL greens have undulations and are quick. Putting here is a premium, and where you hit it on the green makes all the difference. Course conditions are excellent, tees, fairways, rough, hazards, and especially greens. Second hole 445 par 4 tough driving. 12th hole, par 3, surrounded by stream, island green. More than worth the effort to play on public day or as a guest. Good food & drink in lounge, which is open to public overlooking course.
