Knollwood Golf Club - Old
Played On 07/14/2020Meant for a low budget, recreational golfer
Staff were all super friendly and it was really appreciated. The tee boxes are essentially non-existent as some holes didn't even have blue blocks. Greens were also in rough shape. But despite all that, leta remember that this course is priced accordingly. If youre a recreational golfer, this is a great and easyyyyy course to work on some basic swing techniques.
Don't come here expecting 5-star conditions when youre only paying 2-star prices. It is fairly priced and caters to beginners which is perfectly fine.
The Club at Pelican Bay - North Course
Played On 01/31/2020Great course for recreational golfers
Look, I almost didn't book this course due to some of the below reviews - but lets be honest here: this course is priced the lowest in the area and is perfectly suited for a recreational/relaxed golfer and might not be best for a competitive golfer.
The layout is fairly easy, but the pace of play is really good. For a Hot Deal price, it's good value.
Greens were not as bad as described as the below reviews make it seem. Give this course a chance.
Toka Sticks Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2019Good value - tight fairways
Good value for your money - it was peak season for golf in Phoenix so this was one of the cheaper options in the area. Course conditions were really good considering the time of year - each of the holes are just tightly packed in so we often had players on other holes looking for their balls on our fairways, and slowing down the pace of play - but otherwise, this course is good value for your money.
Winchester Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2016Beautiful course but can be challenging
I played as a single during a weekday and was really happy that the Proshop staff allowed me to play as a single. I finished a full round in 2hr 10min. I found this course to be really challenging as it has: narrow fairways; several steep elevation changes; a 500+ yd hole; well placed bunkers and several blind corners. Even though the course may be difficult, the course is kept in beautiful shape - especially considering the dry summer that we've been having. You also drive over gorgeous creeks and ponds that are really well maintained. If you're in the Durham area, this is a must play course for any average or experienced golfer.
One tip: On hole #15 both the blue and red tees are right beside each other however the sign says that the red tees have a 70 yard advantage - I didn't realize until it was too late that there are actually TWO GREENS on the same hole. One before and one after a massive pond. This makes up the 70 yard difference.
Oshawa Airport Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2016Decent Course for a practice round - Good value!
Oshawa Airport Golf Course is a moderate to low quality course for a REALLY low price. I ended up paying $15 for 18 holes + $4.50 for a pull cart. The pull cart was rusted and made going up and down the hills difficult, but I can't really complain with how little I paid.
The staff were FANTASTIC - I had the opportunity to interact with 4 different people who were all helpful. Throughout the round, I also saw the Marshall twice making sure that the pace of play was up to standard.
I wouldn't become a member here and play 40+ rounds per season, but I'd definitely give this course a try 2-3 times per season just to work on my short game and have a fun practice round.
I played the course as a walking single and was able to finish the entire round in 2 hours, 10 minutes.
Lyndebrook Golf Course
Played On 09/06/2016Nice, quiet, fun little couse
Got a great deal for $15 on GolfNow and was really happy with the value. The pull-carts provided were great and there were probably only 4 pairs on the entire course at one time so the pace of play was excellent. I enjoy golfing quickly before going into work so the pace of play will certainly have me returning to this course. Entire 9 holes took roughly 100 minutes for two beginner golfers. It's easy enough for a fun/quick practice round. The even have a "play it twice" promo for only $11 so that wasn't a bad deal either.
Only problem is the clubhouse isn't much of a clubhouse. Not many food or drink options, but that's okay because the staff were all super friendly.
Rolling Hills Golf Club - Challenge
Played On 09/04/2016Easy Course - Good confidence booster!
Played this course on a really nice day outside. Nearly all fairways are completely straight, I can't remember a single blind corner. I didn't like how the grass just off the fairway was really long, I ended up losing 2 balls just because it wasn't cut properly.
I met several staff members and thought all were EXTREMELY friendly. Because of them, I'll certainly be back.
One thing that I didn't like is how close the tee-blocks are to previous greens. If you overshoot a green, there's a chance it's hitting someone who isn't paying attention.
Overall, this course is great for beginners and the price was decent as well.
Annandale Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/27/2016Decent Course - but terrible pace of play
It was our first time trying this course so we didn't know what to expect. The 19th hole was empty and the food was terrible. The course itself was actually pretty decent - long holes and well spread out. Our only qualm was with how slow the pace of play was. It took us nearly 6 hours to play 18 holes because there wasn't a single Marshall on the course controlling the speed.
The price was really decent so this course is a good deal if the pace of play is changed.
