Under construction/poor greens.

Disappointing. Many traps being redone - ground under repair. Worse than that is the shape of the greens: Brown, bumpy, and shaggy. I could have lived with the traps but I wouldn't have played there if I'd known about the greens. I'm told it's much nicer in season.

Good summer golf

Course is in good shape, the pace of play is good, and it's cheap. Good time to be a golfer in the Valley!

Poor shape, poor layout

Course was in very poor shape. A lot of work was being done around the course, but the greens were awful. A couple of holes had chunks taken out of the lip. The layout winds through a mobile home community and the routing is confusing and not well enough marked. Holes can be tight, with no wall separating properties from the fairway. So with mostly hardpan off the fairways, balls that miss the fairway by only a few yards can too easily funnel onto people's yards and out of bounds!

Maybe in winter this could be worth it just for the price, but there are too many better options in summer.

Nice experience

Very good condition. Only saw one other player. And the layout - the course goes in a large circle - was unique.

Decent muni experience

I hadn't played the course in 10 years or more. It's mostly how I remembered but I think the city budget crunch is making it look a bit tired. Very dry. There were spots where I had to slow the cart down because the ground was so rough I was afraid I'd damage the cart, my clubs, or both.

The layout straddles Cave Creek wash and there's some water on the back. It is built on top of a landfill - no, it doesn't stink - and seems to always be windy. Fairways and greens are in pretty good shape. The staff was friendly, the marshal did his job and I was around as a single in about 3 hrs 30 mins. The blue tees seemed to be further back than what was listed on the card, which was fine since it played short, being so dry.

I enjoyed it and will come back.
