Pembroke Country Club
Played On 08/31/2016rode hard and put away wet
Played this course 60 days ago. A lot has changed. The course is in tough shape. The lack of water has hurt this layout. Many fairways were a majority of brown hardpan vs green grass. The good news is your drives will role an extra 10 to 20 yards. The surprising issue were numerous greens, being burnt and brown. You will see on #10. The bunkers need attention, rocky and very hard. I feel there are better values at nearby courses for less money and better conditions.
Hillside Country Club
Played On 07/31/2016I can see the potential
A lot has been said about the fairways being dug up, rough patches, bare spots all due to the new irrigation system, they are mostly true. Some of the fairways still show the scares of the system. Now that the system is installed I would suggest actually turning it on to water the course. The tee boxes would be next on the 'to do list'. However if you decide to play from the blues, the tee boxes are in much better shape.
Those are the only two items to work on and when they are completed this venue will be on most golfers play list. The amenities such as the pool, restaurant and Tiki bar are above average. Great prices and service. If your favorite hole is the 19th, then this is a place to visit. The best for last. The greens. Consistent speed, smooth and the slope can present many challenges. No issue with lack of watering. Everyone in the group praised the greens. The potential is there for this course. I will be back to play again.

Not sure what to expect with the various reviews. Played on a Saturday morning and the course was wide open, Pace of play was not an issue and was able to finish the round in under 3 hours. The club house has seen better times, so if you are expecting a fine dinning atmosphere, you will need to look elsewhere. The worker was friendly and made the time to explain the course and layout with the hand drawn map. Do not lose that map on your first visit, since there is absolutely no hole markings. After your first round the map will be just a memory and the layout will be easy to follow. The fairways on the par4's were in average condition and very playable. The fairways for the par 3's were to be avoided at all costs. Hard pan and little green grass. So all you need to do is hit the green every time. The best part of the day and the course were those greens. Smooth and fast. Large greens for an executive course. The greens had enough undulations to make them challenging. Good course and worth the visit. They will have my business for more rounds this summer.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The course is fair and very challenging. Some of par 3's require an accurate tee shot or your looking at a tough second shot, you will see what I mean. Don't go left on hole 11. The fairways were in better shape than some putting greens I have played. The rough is long grass. The bunkers looked smooth and fluffy, I was fortunate and did not have the pleasure of testing the bunkers first hand. The greens are fast, smooth, and a joy to putt on.
There were a few odd items about this course. First, there is a driving range which plays into the 18 fairway. ?? Second , is the ride to the fifth hole.
Pembroke Country Club
Played On 07/01/2016worthy of your time and money
This course will test your accuracy off the tee box. Most holes have bunkers at 250 - 285 off the tee box. If not bunkers at those yardage, then you will be dealing with water. The 5th hole is a challenge, you will see. The fairways show some play, along with the tee boxes. They are doing some replanting, A more aggressive course repair schedule would be beneficial. The greens were fast and smooth. Pace of play was not an issue. Look forward to playing this course again.

I am glad i found this course. First off, the fairways are very generous in width, as in extremely wide. More than one stray shot did not ruin the day. If you go wide there is plenty of room on most holes. Yes, you will be in the rough but not the woods. If you like a long playing course, you have found your home. The term grip it and rip it comes to mind on many holes. The majority of the greens were fast and smooth, yet on a few holes the greens played slow and therefore had us guessing most of the day. The pace of play was just over 3 hours. I will take that any and every day. The only down side would be the bunkers. On more than one occasion I found myself in what appeared to be hard course material. Overall a great day and look forward to playing the course again.

We went off at 11.24 and the whole course was ours. No issue with pace of play, Course knowledge will save you a few strokes. Such as the 2nd, keep it to the right of the fairway off the tee box and you will have a good shot into the green. Fairways in very good condition. Tee boxes were a little rough, however the greens were the star of the day, fast and smooth. Suggest you do not land above the hole, three putt may be in your future. Look forward to playing this course again n again n again.
Allendale Country Club
Played On 06/10/2016Worth the trip
If you enjoy a course with fast greens, tilted putting surface, and long rough, then this is your new home. You miss the fairway on your tee shot, and the rough will catch your ball like velcro. I was fortunate enough to play with two young local players who showed me the way to play the course on the front 9 . Course knowledge will save you some strikes. The back 9 I could have used their advice. Pace of play was fine. If you have a chance include this course on your summer play list.
Sandwich Hollows Golf Club
Played On 06/09/2016not the best and not the worst
For a town run course, worth the play. Do not expect manicured fairways, pristine tee boxes, sandy bunkers and fast greens , then you will truly enjoy your round. Paid $18.00 and I feel it was money well spent. The biggest issue is the pace of play, or should I say the LONG pace of play. Over 5 hours during the week day. Can not image the time during the weekend. Would I play again ? For that price and maybe a few dollars more, YES!.
Suggestion, do not try and walk the course, very hilly.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Sandwich Hollows Golf Club thanks you!
Weathervane Golf Club
Played On 06/09/2016The Greens are the Star of the day
When I booked this round I did not know it was a 9 hole layout. No worries.
The tee boxes offer a variety of play to enjoy the full 18 holes with front 9 to be different than the back 9. The course was in great shape. As I said, the greens were the star of the day. Fast and smooth. Pace of play was not even a concern. I used every club in my bag. If you are the grip it and rip it type of player this course will not impress you, as course management will dictate the choice of clubs. If the 19th hole is important to you, well, this course for now operates out of a trailer with NO 19th hole. I enjoyed myself enough that I will be back to play again.
Thank You Very Much for your Review! We look forward to seeing you again as well!
