What a Gem

First the cons: No driving Range.
With that said this is a gem of course that will challenge the most seasoned of golfers. Wind will be a factor in the afternoon. Your course starts off on flatter terra firma, but make no mistake, undulations, blind shots, and tight fairways abound. The back nine meanders through the hillside with even tighter fairways and multiple elevations. Bring your A game(and for your less seasoned players, extra balls). Despite the drought that we're in, the course was in superb shape. Well trained staff. Slowly becoming my favorite course. We were behind a tournament, so the pace of play was slow, but not a big deal. Nice views on the back Nine.

A must while in Las Vegas

I must admit, since this was my first time playing a TPC Golf course, I was a bit nervous. When you walk into the Clubhouse, it screams First Class all the way. Professional staff to say the least. The Starter was Gentlemen through and through. The course conditions were excellent for this time of year(Jan 1st). What makes this course tough? Let's see: First and foremost the greens are fast and well protected. Most have false fronts/backs/sides etc. On hole #1, I thought my ball landed 8' from the hole, but when I got to the green, I had seen it had rolled off the green. It was that kind of day. Ended up shooting a 90. Not good. I would consider Badlands to be more of a tough course as far as fairways and approach shots, but TPCLV's greens are much tougher. Pick your poison I guess. Prices are a bit steep, but you get what you pay for.

An "OK" Course

How do I put this, when I'm in town, I'll play this course. It's not an "elite" course, but I'm still drawn to it. For some reason the pace of play can either be really fast or it can be like rush hour traffic. Green fees are fair. Because of the courses location, it can become a bit challenging when the wind picks up. Course is in decent shape. There are other course I would rather play, but seems to fit the bill. 7 out of 10 IMHO.

Decent Course

I must admit, I usually play this course when I come to Las Vegas. I use it as my "Warm Up Course" before I play the more challenging behemoths like TPC Las Vegas, Paiute, and Badlands to name a few. They finally built their clubhouse. Nothing fancy but it works. Course isn't that hard and it's in pretty good shape on top of being fairly priced. I guess for those reasons, I've come across quite a few players that could brush up on their golf etiquette. I'm not trying to be a golf snob or anything, but I've seen guys wear the Jean's and T-Shirt Combo as well as yelling F-Bombs after a bad hole. Oh well. Anyway, I enjoy playing here and will continue to do so despite the aforementioned concerns.

Never Disappoints

On average, I'll visit Las Vegas 8-10 times a year because of work and family, and like clock work, this is one of the courses that I'll visit. Why you ask? Simply put, the condition of the course(s), the pace of play, and professionalism of the staff. On top of that, from time to time you can get a good deal on Golfnow. As far as the difficulty of the course, I would say the 3 course's are "fair" to say the least. In the afternoon, the wind can pick up and the courses can become a bit more challenging because of it. As far as the pace of play, I've never had a round last more than 4 hours. More often than not, I'll finish early and practice a bit more after the round. Though it's far from the strip, it feels like I'm at a country club. Never had a bad experience at Paiute and hopefully it stays that way. A must play while in LV for sure.

Challenging but yet a rewarding course

I've played this course numerous times. Greens are pretty fast, while undulations are common in most of the fairways. The latter can be pretty narrow (ie # 8). In the afternoon the wind can really pick up and make things more difficult than they already are. Club selection is key for this course, for there's more than a few blind shots. Tee Boxes could use some work. Staff though cordial and friendly, could be more professional and attentive. No starter to speak of the day I was there(8/19@2pm). Other than that, a solid course without question.

A pilgrimage one must make

Without question, one of the top public courses in the bay area. Prices can be a little steep, but considering the conditions of the course, well worth it. I played in the afternoon, so the wind can make the course harder than it already is. Not for the beginner. Very long with breathtaking views of the valley. In short, a must on ones list.
