One starter could be a little more friendly

Tues - conditions sunny and very windy; Brought some friends in from out of town, they wanted to get there early to have a drink and warm up a bit. Upon arrival we had a brief but unfriendly and odd exchange as the shorter stockier starter seemed befuddled that we showed up at 11:15 for a 12:30 tee time, repeatedly saying “12:30?!, wow 12:30 , as if commenting to some of the other folks standing around” immediately, im feeling a bit unwelcome and embarrassed, especially since I’m hosting friends.. then As we went to place our bags in the bag rack we quickly got told not to put our bags there but behind the rack “because of the large group” that he seemed to be remarking towards earlier. Out of our group, I have the only non-walking bag without a stand; it was very windy out so I laid my clubs down in the mulch, safely and between two bushes touching nothing but mulch, because I didn’t want my bag to fall over on the concrete. The starter immediately began to scold me about “would I lay the clubs down in the mulch at my own house” as he frustratingly grabbed my bad and stood it up on the concrete where it precariously rocked in the strong winds.. I told him that “yes, I would lay my clubs down harmlessly on the mulch at my own home if I needed to” then proceeded to tell him that was okay that he balance my clubs up like that but if they fell, I was going to be a different level of irritated. That guy pretty much avoided us from there on in.

After that, everyone was friendly. the guy at the register was charming and friendly and told us where to have a drink and explore the amenities until we teed off. The bartender Ryan was cool. Even one of the landscapers gave us a friendly salutation and told us to enjoy the facility..

I can validate the above comment since I was one of those guests. I’ve worked as an assistant pro at several golf courses when I was younger and I can honestly say that guy would not have been employed at any of the golf courses I was at after that display of unprofessionalism.

Terrible communication and customer service

Booked a “hot deal” tee time for 11am 12/18.
Deal Included golf cart (receipt attached). We also emailed the course at 6:30 this morning if the course was going to be open today. No response.

When I arrived at the course at 10:30 with my foursome, heater, golf cart enclosure, etc. I was told my booking was walking only. I informed the gentleman I was a disabled vet, and another member of our group was disabled as well. he said there was nothing he could do for me.. and he would lose his job. Not sure but it seems that gentleman, lacked basic communication skills and wasn’t able to reason beyond two extremes. He also said that “golfnow should have called you”. I don’t know what he’s talking about, I’ve never received a call from Golfnow in 10years. I then asked for a refund or a rain check, because typically Golfnow won’t refund a “hot deal”. He again said there was nothing he could do, I would have to take this up with Golfnow. I’ve played this course 10 times this year. I’m Very disappointed in this service. I know for a fact that golf
Courses are able to add disclaimers into Golfnow booking about aeration, walking only, etc. Who didn’t do their job here? This could’ve been avoided. Why didn’t anyone respond to our email? Again, could’ve been avoided. ApparentlyThe only person who could help me (Brian) doesn’t arrive to work until 11:45.

Update - I did finally get a reply from “brian” taking about why they closed the course and the course conditions... he failed to answer why they didn’t update golfnow with the information, why nobody would answer an email we sent to this very same address, 5 hours prior.

I like centerton

I play every course in the area, Running Deer, Buena, White Oaks, T&C, Pinelands, Riverwinds
and even venture down the shore to play. Right now it seems like every course in the area is trying to price gouge except for Buena and Centerton. Both of which are very laid back, and have fun layouts.

My only complaint is there always seems to be a backup at hole 1. I’ve noticed that when the younger guys are working, things seem to run More closely to on schedule. Some of the old guard don’t seem to care what’s going on out there. Outside of that, the course is in good shape. Staff is friendly. They even have a few new/nice cart girls... actually having a cart girl at all is a major improvement.

Large greens and wide open fairways.

Slow pace; sending groups off too quickly and not monitoring pace of play

Slow pace; sending groups off too quickly and not monitoring pace of play. Really packing groups in and not monitoring the slow groups .
