Hawk's Landing Golf Club
Played On 11/16/2019One of the first Cold days of the year
This was my second time playing at Hawk's Landing. I believe the starter said there is water on every hole but three. Given that it was very windy, that is less than ideal. It put an emphasis on driving the ball in the fairway. The greens were in GREAT shape. Rolling very nicely. Both times i have played out here it was windy, not sure if that is the norm or not, but you must be precise.
Deer Island Country Club
Played On 11/10/2019Let me start off by saying that I really like this course. The layout is challenging and makes you pay for a missed shot. I wish the location was slightly closer to Orlando as I drove about an hour to play. The course was in really good shape aside from 2 or 3 of the greens. 2 par 3 greens were borderline unputtable. But every other green was perfect. They do roll a little on the slow side. Clubhouse is nice with a pool table to entice you and the group if you didn't get enough competition on the course. All-in-all I will continue to play at Deer Island because it is great value and an awesome layout.
Disney's Palm Golf Course
Played On 11/02/2019Course was in good shape. Tee'd off just before noon, so the pace of play was pretty slow. Course was in pretty good shape. Construction going on around the third green, but it didn't disrupt play. Worth the price to play. Ate at Sports Bar next to the course.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 10/26/2019Another great day at Royal St. Cloud Golf Links. The courses are always in fantastic shape. They were a little wet due to the rain, but the greens were rolling nicely. The pace of play seemed long, especially at 7:30 am. Shouldn't have taken us 4:30 that early. We would easily go back again. Blue/Red routing is the tougher of the two, if you get the chance, White/Blue is the easiest to score on.
Mid South Club
Played On 10/23/2019Favorite Course of the trip
I absolutely loved this track. The layout was fantastic. Rolling hills throughout the fairways and greens. Very nice routing! The finishing holes on each side are very challenging and actually share a green! Would play this course every weekend if I could!
Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
Played On 10/22/2019Another Scenic Ross Course
Another absolute gem. The course requires razor sharp precision as the greens are mounded and quick. False fronts await around every corner. Host site to a US Senior Women’s Open, and I can see why. The day we played it was soft in front of the greens from the tropical storm that rolled through. Would like to play it again when firm time get the true feel of the course.
Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club
Played On 10/21/2019Beautiful yet treacherous
Aesthetically this course is absolutely amazing, but man is it tough. You need to be laser accurate with your approach shots as the greens are undulating and nearly all have false fronts. It is a course I would like to play a few times and I feel I would play it better. Highly recommend checking out this course!
Talamore Golf Resort
Played On 10/20/2019This was my first time playing golf in North Carolina. The rolling hills are definitely something to get used to. The greens were like grease lightening! Make sure you don’t leave yourself above the hole. In fact, do not short side yourself either because you have some time Bermuda to navigate which can be humbling for many... Really enjoyed this round, would certainly play here regularly if I lived nearby.
Thanks for leaving us a review, Kyle. We're glad you enjoyed your time at Talamore!
Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2019The course was in better shape than the last time i saw it. The one complaint is that some of the tee boxes are chewed up and have pushed quite a few of the back tees forward. Aside from that the greens rolled nice, but they were slow. It was an early Saturday morning and it appeared as though they hadn't been cut so there wasn't as much roll out as I would have liked. Teeing off at 7:51, i believe there was only three groups in front of us and we had to wait on most shots, if you paired up the twosomes then it wouldn't have been an issue.
Reunion Resort - Nicklaus Course
Played On 10/06/2019Second time playing this track and I only remembered a few of the holes. Not an overly memorable layout. The course was in average shape, not what I would expect from a “private” course. The range looked terrible. I would go back to reunion, but I would prefer to try another layout before playing this one again.
The Course at Sewanee
Played On 10/01/2019Easily my favorite course on the Golf Advisor Getaway. If I lived in the area, I would play this course over and over. Great layout and the course was in great shape! The views were spectacular. Highly recommend playing this course if in the area.
Sweetens Cove Golf Club
Played On 09/30/2019Golf Advisor Getaway at Sweetens Cove
Having heard so much about the course, I was eager to check it out! It was in pretty nice shape considering the lack of rain in the area. Off the tee the course was pretty forgiving and right in front of you. Once you get to the green complexes, look out! It is as if there are buried elephants all throughout. Plenty of undulation and slope on every one of them. Each green has to flags to differentiate the nines. Course management is of the utmost importance here and you need to give yourself the proper club and angle into the greens. This course may not be for everyone, but it is definitely worth playing to find out!
Black Creek Club
Played On 09/29/2019Template Holes Galore
This was my first time playing a course full of template holes. It was a pretty cool experience to see all of the different styles built into one. The course was in great shape considering it hadn’t rained in we over a month. The staff was fantastic! If I were in the area again and afforded the opportunity, I would easily play here again.
Oaks Course at Stonegate Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2019We were originally slated to play the Cypress course, but were switch over to the Oaks as they had just punched their greens and we were not aware. The course was very accommodating in setting us up on the Oaks without asking and let us tee off on the back nine while they started a front side shotgun. We breezed around the course in about 3 hours. The course was in pretty good shape. The greens were still recovering from being punched about 3 weeks ago. It is a pretty getable layout if you are striking the ball well. Much wider and more forgiving than the Cypress course. I think Stonegate is sneaky good value that not a lot of people know about.
Thank you very much for taking the time to post this positive review. We look forward to you visiting us again in the future.
Best,

Shingle Creek Golf Club
Played On 09/08/2019I hadn't played at Shingle Creek in nearly 8 months. The course was in great shape. The greens were still recovering from being punched last month, so they were a little slow and some of them were worse than others. The tee boxes, fairways, and around the greens were quite nice. I would have no reservations going back.
The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 09/01/2019Always enjoy playing a round at the Reserve as it is a fun layout. The course was in pretty good shape. Greens rolled a little slow, but other than that it was good. Course was a little wet due to all of the rain in the area over the past week.
Have no problem going back to play again as the pace of play was pretty quick as well.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2019On it's way back!
I was very surprised with how far Mystic Dunes has come. I have always loved the layout. The greens were in great shape. They rolled a little slow, but i think they have to as they are on the road to recovery. None of the greens had terrible spots you had to go through, which is different then in rounds past.
The fairways could still use a little work, but you can certainly tell that money is being put into the course to bring it back. The practice facility was in great shape as well. If you haven't played here in awhile, i would give it another chance. They are certainly trending in the right direction.
Wonderful! Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Mystic Dunes Golf Club.
Kaluhyat Golf Club at Turning Stone
Played On 08/28/2019We wrapped up our trip at Turning Stone with Kaluhyat. The course is very nice and scenic, but unfortunately our round was cut short due to a monsoon of rain that came pouring in. We were able to play four holes and then ultimately had to call it quits. You cannot go wrong with any of the courses at Turning Stone and Kaluhyat is no exception.
Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone
Played On 08/26/2019Another absolute treat at Turning Stone. I hadn't played Shenendoah since the redesign. The course was in fantastic condition. The greens were rolling at 9.5 so if you were on the wrong side of the hole, you had a chance to save yourself. The layout was really nice on both nines. The 18th hole is stunning especially with a nice setting sun.
Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone
Played On 08/25/2019Just as good as the last time. The flowers and the views are second to none. Not a blade of grass out of place. This course, and Turning Stone as a whole, are a bucket list destination. Plenty of water, especially on the back nine. The greens were rolling at 10.5 so make sure you leave yourself on the proper side of the hole.
Thank you for visiting us at Deer Island Country Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
