Zanesville Jaycee's Public Golf Course
Played On 04/03/2021Terrible course, even worse staff.
Arrived for our 8 am tee time but there was a frost delay. This was not a problem as it was kind of expected with the cold weather that came in. The carts were completely soaked and just out in the elements, and it took me trying about 3 different carts before one actually ran. The course was in absolute terrible conditions. There was hardly a difference between the rough, fairways, and greens. Definitely isn't different grass or built well, just mowed at different lengths. The staff was incredibly condescending and rude. Spend your money elsewhere if you can. There are better dog tracks in the area with better rates.

We arrived for our 8 am tee time but alas there was a frost delay. Not a big deal, it was pretty cold and to be expected. What was not to be expected was how condescending and rude the staff was. On top of that all the carts were just out in the open and completely soaked, and it took me trying 3 different carts until I found one that ran. The club house looks like if someone sneezed inside the whole thing would collapse. The icing on the cake was the terrible conditions of the course. there were times when it was hard to even tell the difference between the fairway and the green. Stay away and spend your time/money elsewhere.

Played On 09/07/2020What happened to the greens?!
The golf course was absolutely trashed. They had begun construction recently and had dug up at least some portion of almost every fairway. The greens were in absolutely horrendous conditions and the tee boxes looked like someone used them for grenade practice. Had I not been playing with several other people I would’ve turned around after the first hole and demanded a refund. They were charging weekend rates for Labor Day and the course was a construction site.
Golf Club of Dublin
Played On 08/13/2020They think very highly of themselves
Golf Club of Dublin is a very nice course with a fun layout. However I wouldn’t go there without a deal. It is priced way too high and the group that owns it, New Era Golf, thinks very highly of this course. While it is a good course it’s not all that and a bag of chips. I would honestly argue that it’s not even the best course owned by New Era. All and all it’s a fun and challenging course, but don’t go unless you get a deal on your tee time.
Bent Tree Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2020A fun, tricky, little course
Bent Tree is a fun course that will challenge your course management skills. There are a few tricky tee shots and plenty of hazards to keep you guessing. It’s a fairly short course with their back tees only playing around 6.4K but don’t let the distance fool you. Long hitters get no advantage because of carefully placed bunkers, streams, and other hazards. This course will challenge you to get creative while at the same time not abuse the higher handicap golfers.

Played On 07/30/2020Excellent course, horrible pace
First off this is one of the best layouts and most fun designed public courses I’ve played in the Columbus area. I’m not sure if the pace was a typical problem or just something that happened that day, but you wouldn’t expect it on a weekday morning. I was playing in a 4some that had a single behind us. However we were constantly waiting on the several groups of 4 ahead of us. At one point on a par 5 there was a group on the fairway ahead of us a group on the green and 2 groups on the tee box ahead of them. We decided to let the single play with us. Our pace didn’t change at all because of this, however the ranger came out and yelled at us. So we decided to let the single play through. However as soon as he did the group ahead of us wouldn’t and we all just ended up basically playing together again. Again I’m not sure if the pace issue was a fluke or something that is common place, but it took almost 5 1/2 hours to play 18.
Royal American Links Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2020Decent course, but a little bit of a drive
It’s an alright course within the new era group. Not sure why it’s “Links” definitely not on the coast nor is it built on sandy soil. It is however a decent golf course hidden out away from everything. The pace of play is slow, but that’s typical for most public courses so that wasn’t too big of an issue. I only make the trip out there if I can get a deal, as it’s normal greens fees are a bit high for the quality of course plus the longer drive it takes to get there.
Marysville Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2020Decent for the money
Course is typically in pretty poor conditions. It’s hard to distinguish between fairways and roughs and the greens are so slow Tom Morris would’ve complained. It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. You can tell at one point that this was probably a pretty decent course, but that time has long since passed.

Played On 06/13/2020Glenross Golf Course
Played On 06/08/2020Short course with incredibly difficult greens
Glenross is a decent course that’s part of the New Era Golf group. There is no real practice area outside of the putting area. The course itself is a decent design but a bit on the shorter side. To make the course a bit more difficult the greens have an obscene amount of undulations. To be blunt I find this very annoying. It feels unnecessary and more reactive vs proactive during the design.
Delaware Golf Club
Played On 06/03/2020Feels like 2 separate golf courses
The original 9 holes of this course is an older Donald Ross design that makes up the back 9. The front 9 of this course feels more modern and similar to most private clubs I’ve played. The course is challenging and fun but the off course amenities are lacking. They have a bar and a few food items available but nothing to write home about.
Timberview Golf Club
Played On 06/01/2020Decent cheap course
Nothing about this course is going to blow anyone away. However, the staff was some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The course isn’t in the best shape, and I’m not sure what good shape would be for this course. I did have a great time playing there and the value is unbeatable.

Played On 09/28/2018Excellent course to keep pace moving
A hidden gem inside Zanesville. Half pipe style fairways help to keep you in play and keep pace moving well. The greens are very true and are some of the best around.
Thanks so much for the review!
