Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Played On 01/11/2021Amazing Greens
Greens are the star of the show at this course. Very receptive, fast and roll true. Fairways are nice and green. Rough is dormant and a lot of the dead grass will give you extremely tight lies.
Great bang for buck.

Not the nicest course in the valley by any means but great value for the money. You can even pay an extra $3 and your round will come with lunch. How great of a deal is that?
Stripe Show Golf Club
Played On 01/09/2020Best 9 hole option in the area
Love this little hidden gem. Course is tucked away on a nice piece of property with big, shaded trees and a nice lake in the middle. Good option for getting in a quick 9 at a decent price.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 05/10/2018Never Disappointed
I'm always satisfied when leaving this course. Has good rates year round, especially during the summer. Only issue I usually see here is pace of play. Never a beverage cart nor ranger. Expect 4.5-5 hour rounds regardless of when you tee off unless it's on a really slow day.
Course is always in great shape. Greens are nice and smooth but maybe a touch slow (8's?). Not too bad considering the greens are quite undulated and can make those downhillers a little less stressful.
Whirlwind Golf Club - The Cattail Course
Played On 05/08/2018Pace of Play
Good rates out here this time of year vs. what people are willing to pay during the winter time. The fairways are usually wet meaning 0 to negative roll on drives and lots of mud balls. I was a single behind a 4some that never let me play through the entire round. Player assistance was around multiple times but seems more interested in handing out wet towels (thank you) than doing something about the pace of play. Could have finished in 2 hours if it wasn't for that, instead it was a 4.5 hour round in the 100F+ heat. I took the opportunity to play 3 balls per hole and practice my chipping and putting from around each green. Greens are decent for this time of year, running maybe a 9 at best, with some real dead/rough spots around the edges of some greens.
I'll be coming back if I can continue to get rounds under $40 here.
Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Played On 03/12/2018Green Throughout
One of the few courses here that doesn't have dormant grass everywhere for a nice change. The greens were very receptive and held well except some of the greens had some rough spots on them. Same with the fairways on a few holes. I was disappointed to smash my drive down the right side of the fairway on the par 5 #18 to have a short iron in, except it was lying on a patch of bare dirt.
The pace of play was awful. From the time we teed off there were already 3 groups on the hole and two waiting to go off. Waiting on every single shot for a 5 hour round.
Outside service was extremely friendly and for the price it's a good deal. Only wish the course was closer.

I got a call an hour before my tee time saying they had to cancel it. THANKS A LOT!
Lone Tree Golf Club
Played On 03/06/2018Firm and fast greens
This course is growing on me more and more. The greens were very fast...11-12's if I had to guess. You didn't want to leave yourself above the hole. The greens were also extremely firm to the point it was difficult to find your ball marks. You really had to plan for the large hop on the greens as nothing was holding and some of the pins were tucked in some rough spots which were near impossible to hit it close. They rolled great but unfortunately the majority of the birdie putts came from outside 15ft even when hitting short wedges into most holes.
Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course

Have been wanting to play this course for a long time after seeing it when playing Padre. Got a hot deal on golfnow to make it a reality.
The course is lush throughout. I think the teeboxes would putt better than some of the greens I've played on courses in the east valley lately.
Fun layout with challenging bunkers. Very undulated greens. Great views of camelback mountain and some monster homes on the course. Looking forward to the next time I get to play it.
Power Ranch Golf Club
Played On 01/28/2018Good time
Course was in good shape and I enjoyed the 2 players I got paired up with. Pace of play was a bit slow as we waited on every shot. A few of the greens had some rough spots throughout the course but overall they ran smoothly. I would come back again.
Club West Golf Club
Played On 01/26/2018Never Again
Gave Club West a few fair chances after taking on new ownership, but I've only been disappointed each time. They sent out an entire fleet of 4-somes ahead of the 2-some I was in and a single behind me. The starter originally told me we would be going out early so I rushed through my range balls only to start 30+ minutes late. It sure was fun pulling up to par 3's with 6 carts parked on the tee. The course itself is fun but the way the course is ran could sure use some work. Outside service was friendly.
Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course

Made the hour long trek from phoenix to play out here and glad that I did. Lots of nice views here and course was in great shape. Would make the drive again to try out the Victory course next time.
Las Colinas Golf Club
Played On 01/19/2018Rough around the edges
The fairways here are in nice shape and very green. Everything else is mediocre at best. The greens were very bumpy and it only took about 3 holes before I gave up taking putting seriously. I'm surprised they are able to get this much out of people for greens fees (I guess I paid too), but I won't be coming back for another round. The course was fairly busy but the pace of play stayed steady throughout the whole round. If you live in the Queen Creek area I guess there are not too many options, but if you live north then I suggest choosing one of the many other courses.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 01/17/2018Nice course but out of the way
My only issue with this course is that it is not closer to me! Always has been in great conditions when I've played it and any time I see a good deal here I snag it and make the 40 minute drive. You can find $29 rounds in the summer and similar priced rounds after 2pm in peak seasons and it's a great deal. A couple funky holes but overall a fun layout with some very scenic shots and views.

Played On 01/09/2018Rough around the edges
I would expect this course to be in better shape this time of year. I think it needs a little more TLC and it would be a big improvement. I would not be happy to have to pay more than $50 to play here. The fairways and greens are decent though and it's a good track aside from the course conditions.

I snagged a great price through golfnow to play out here during peak season. The course was in great shape and a lot of fun holes out there.
Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Estates Course
Played On 01/02/2018Nice track but easy
Most holes are very straight without much trouble along the way. It is also not a very long course. Conditions here have always been good and the greens roll nicely. Most of the rounds I've played here were in less than 4 hours. If you want more of a challenge, check out their (better) links course.
