Copper Mill Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2022Lots of reasons to like this course, a few reasons I do not like it.
This course is a fun and challenging layout. I was terribly disappointed in the greens. They were bumpy with unwanted growth.
Beaver Creek Golf Course
Played On 12/22/2020Great conditions, fun course
My first hour at the course was very disappointing. A complacent shop attendant sent me out to a non-existent starter. As a single I was expecting to join someone(s). A couple small groups headed to the first tee, but still no starter. It was now past my tee time so I just went to the first tee and asked if I could join them. To my surprise (this is rare) they said no, but they invited me to tee off ahead of them. I played about 3 holes alone and caught up to a very kind 5-some. They kindly split up so we could be two 3-somes. It's amazing how people can make or break ones day! Anyway, I had a nice round on a course with the best conditions in the area. It's a challenging and scenic course. I'll be back.

Such an amazing layout... great holes, fun to play... fairways ok, greens ok, but the course has stopped taking care of the sand traps and cart paths. Erosion has taken its toll. Would I play here again? Absolutely. Would I like to have played this course in its prime? Oh yes.
Beaver Creek Golf Course
Played On 12/10/2020Excellent December conditions
Far and above other area courses in conditions. Great challenge. At first I thought wide open fairways, only to discover my landing areas were trapped up! Only disappointment was no pin position chart on the cart. Many greens I couldn't see pin placement and in the interest of pace-of-play never went up to look, just aimed middle. As a single-digit handicap that was a disappointment.
Copper Mill Golf Club
Played On 12/08/2020Nice mix of challenges
Very much enjoyed the course. I was intrigued by the equal mix of par 3,4,and 5s. 6 of each. Some long. Some short. Shot making, spot picking made it necessary to think before you swing. Staff were super friendly. They gave me a yardage book since they knew it was my first time there. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad to hear you enjoy our course and wonderful staff. We look forward to having you back in the future.

From arrival to departure, overall super positive. Staff were excellent. Greens were good, tees boxes were a little scruffy. Pace was perfect. Biggest disappointment... albeit small... water fountain mid way thru first nine had been removed and drink dispenser was out of order. No water for drinks anywhere and half way house was closed. That aside, course was in terrific late February conditions.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the golf course! Thank you for the feedback on the drink situation as we're in the process of getting the machine repaired.
Best,
Ben

Staff were great, from arrival and club drop, to pro shop attendant. Previous heavy rain restricted cart to cart path only, course was nearly unplayable, but can't control the weather. But first green... yikes. Horrible. Dead patches, sparse, bumpy. So, tons of money to build new club house and incredibly poor course conditions. Nice layout, but maintenance severely lacking. I'd read previous reviews, for past couple of years, and knew greens were poor but still poor? After years of poor reviews, and it's still poor? What is Brown Management doing?
The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island
Played On 11/25/2018Terrific course
Excellent course, challenging and fair. Once isn't enough. Lots of ponds teeming with wildlife. Seeing troops on entry and exit is a mindful experience. Only disappointment, and this happens anywhere, was a slow playing foursome in front of us that never, ever had the cognitive ability to see no one was ahead of them but there was behind them. Waiting. Every. Hole. Maybe a Marshal would be a good touch. But this happens too often at too many courses.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 03/17/2018Fun, challenging.
Such a nice course. Views abound. Low country splendor. And, if that's not enough, each hole challenges your golf skills. Landing areas, elevated greens, marsh, and other distractions make for an earned low number. Staff were excellent.
Thank you for the 4 star review. Old South strives for great conditions and an exceptional experience for all our customers. We hope to see you again.
We appreciate the 5-star review. We do our best to present a great experience to every golfer and we are glad you enjoyed Old South Golf Links.
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 02/21/2018Just not sure
Staff are great. They even mentioned the hard greens. It's a great layout. Challenging, scenic. Overhanging oaks make for a premium challenge on tee and approach shots. Planning your landing area is often valuable. I like that. But the greens are so hard and unreceptive. I hit multiple high spin approaches only to see a well struck shot bounce over the green. Yet play a shot short to bounce in and the ball would check up and stay well short. And some greens have excellent protection in front to prevent any chance to excel here. It's a premium course playing to municipal standards. Would I recommend this course in its current state. Sure. But you'll likely have plenty of shots that felt good off the club face, in an enviable line, only to slump your shoulders in dismay as you see the result.

I've played this course for years in the winter months. First time this winter. It's a wonderful course with challenging and interesting holes. I'm just disappointed that it seems to be slipping. I expect dormant grass but was disappointed with inadequate care. A few greens had the wrong color flag for the pin position. Greens hadn't been cut and were pocked with foot prints and ball marks. Holes were not recent cut. Sure, it's winter and maintenance is down but, my opinion, a little more care could go a long way.
The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island
Played On 01/09/2018Worth the trip.
A very nice, open, yet challenging course. If the wind was up the challenge would have quadrupled. Two notes... we're not US residents so entry to the base required getting the "Friends of Parris Island" pass. Takes a few days. Glad we did. Everyone we dealt with was super nice.
Other noteworthy observation... we happened to be golfing while an enactment or military exercise was occurring. Couldn't see it, but could hear the extraordinary drama of chaos and carnage. It was a bit unsettling and caused a genuine reality check. Most unique golf round I've had in years.

We were denied access to the base because of our citizen status (Canadian). Within two days we were cleared, but it was too late for our tee time. We will try again since the reviews sound terrific, but if you are not holding a US drivers license or a "Friend of Parris Island" pass you will be not be golfing until you are approved. A nugget that would have helpful to have before we purchased the GolfNow tee time the evening prior.

Mid-December and the golf course is quiet. Why? Temps were great, mid-60s. It's a very nice course. Challenging layout, a few forced carries, at least for me when I'm on the least ideal side for my approach shot. Staff are great. Course is varied. GolfNow incentive seals the deal.
Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 12/14/2017Great course
For December the course is in great shape. So many challenging shots await. And not lined with condos. Course isn't long but requires good shotmaking to score well. Greens are great, sand traps need attention.
I got a hole in one at 13 here last February. After that round I asked in the pro shop if they had any trinkets or a little paper to complete to commemorate the feat. The answer was no, but I could buy a plaque. I've had the privilege of several aces in 50 years of golfing, all at different courses. Each course did something or had something, from a 1/2 sheet of paper with the course logo that the pro shop attendant completed, a call to the local paper, and/or a complimentary green fee. I just would be a nice touch for such a nice course.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 12/03/2017Great course
Every opportunity I get the play Old South I do. Variety. Some holes are a green light right off the tee. But don't be fooled. Next hole is tight and/or makes you plan your landing area. The marsh views are terrific. At low tide the pluff mud displays former errant shots, thousands of them. At high tide the views over shimmering water are outstanding. Trees, traps, and/or marsh are everpresent. The course isn't long so big hitters will have less opportunities, but the golfer who can pick their spot, and hit it, will score well. A real challenge and so worthwhile.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us and our potential clients. We are pleased you enjoy the course and play often.

A fun and challenging course to play. Lots to look at. Great value with GolfNow. Staff were very accommodating since we arrived early but they let us tee off earlier too. Course wasn't busy so two of us got around in just over 3 hours.

This is a great layout. As well, the holes along the marsh are thoughtful, intriguing, and challenging. I like courses that make you 'think off the tee'. Meaning, not all holes are just straight forward. Old South makes one think about landing areas, yardages, so on. Not on every hole, but enough to make it memorable.
Old South is an interesting and challenging course for players of all abilities. We are glad you enjoy it and hope you return soon.
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
Played On 12/15/2016Great greens
Great layout and interesting holes. Greens were really nice. Only disappointment was the clubhouse sign said it was "pin placement 1 today". It was for the first 4 holes then changed. There were enough undulations or elevation changes my eyesight didn't pick up the difference. I mentioned the oversight when I made the turn at 9, and was told to "just aim for the middle of the green." I thought, great advice, but you failed to realize that some folks, those with lower handicaps, might actually pick a different club.
Hi, Brucebraun. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing The Bluffs on Thompson Creek.
