This used to be my go to course when I lived in the city. I went back to accommodate some friends whom still live in the city. Unfortunately somethings never change. 840 tee time did not tee off until almost 930am. We arrived 15 min before our tee time, so the only explanation for the delay is either they overbooked or shoe horned walk one in before us. Running 50 min late at 840am is unacceptable, especially coupled with the terrible pace of play.

This is a city course so long round times and high prices are a given. The course itself is in good shape, better than last year. The issue here is poor tee time management.

If I have a tee time at 8:45am and the course demands I get there 30 min prior to my tee time it is unacceptable to have me tee off 45 min after my scheduled tee time. You can't charge top dollar and add 1hr 15min to an already 5+hr round. How they can be 45 min behind at 845am is beyond me.

Just got back from a golf trip to New Mexico. Going in I was concerned about playing Black Mesa given it's location, 30 min north of Sante Fe and reports of poor conditions due to irrigation issues a few years back. Yes, some of the fairways, greens and bunkers still need some TLC, but it is all pretty much cosmetic and does not negatively impact the experience. These issues are the only reason I did not give it 5 stars. With continued improvements this will be a 5 star course again. It would be a sin to let these concerns prevent you from playing this course if you are in the area. The terrain, mountain views and layout are truly amazing and should not be missed. It is well worth the drive and definitely worth the money to play.

Spectacular course with incredible views. Very challenging, especially with windy conditions, but enjoyable. Look out for the bunkers! I spent a large chuck of my day in the bunkers. We played on a Friday in March and practically had the course to ourselves.

Course is always well maintained, course offers stuff for both beginners and more advanced players, and staff is nice. My only complaint is the mismanagement of tee times and pace of play. On more than one occasion my tee time has teed off 45min to 1hr late. That's unacceptable. Understand they have golf groups that get priority, but if I book a tee time that is available on line I shouldn't get the the course and start an hour late. Either they are offering too many tee times or they are slotting walk ins ahead of tee times. 5+ hour rounds are a given in the city but tacking on an hour for poor management is a day killer.
