Eagle Dunes Golf Club
Played On 03/04/2020Disappointed
For the second time in a row we had to play the front 9 twice because of a four group backup on the back. Clearly a course management issue. Condition was only fair. Not much grass in most of the fairways and the greens were extremely bumpy and did not roll true. This was always a favorite but is is clearly in decline. I hope that it will improve but I fear that it will be gone in a year

This is my hometown course and it pains me to write a bad review but unfortunately it is deserved. This used to be a nice course despite some problems with management and pace of play but the deterioration of the course itself is sad to see. Grass is sparse on most all fairways and around the greens. Bunkers are getting overgrown with weeds and sand is very hard packed. Rakes for traps are few. More woods cut down for more houses. They beautiful views of nature are long gone. I wont be back.

To call this a cow pasture would be an insult to cow pastures. Greens were unplayable to the point that I didn't even bother to putt on most holes. All sand and weeds. Fairways mostly weeds. The people in the "clubhouse" were nice and friendly so not their fault but this truly is a horrible course

Good day except for the rude and horrible behavior from a couple who was likely members based on what they were doing. Pace was pretty good and there was some waiting on most holes but a couple one of whom was a chain smoking women who was tossing butts all over like Hansel And Gretal leaving a trail of bread crumbs. They refused to wait for anyone and would race by you and jump in front so you now have 2 groups to wait for. I saw them do this to other groups as well. They were just jumping on and off holes at will which messed up the flow and caused backups for everyone but them . They clearly didn't care about golf etiquette

Beautiful weather and good course conditions. Thoroughly enjoyed the course and would love to play again. Just one negative. Due to heavy rain on Thursday the back nine was "cart path only". Seems there is always one jerk that thinks the rules don't apply to him. In this case it was someone that I think was a member or at least a local resident. He had his own personal golf cart and drove it into the neighborhood when he was done. This jerk ignored the "cart path only" and drove all over the wet fairways tearing them up. Because everyone one else was honoring the rules and he was ignoring them he was playing at a faster pace than those of use who chose to respect the course and follow the rules. He apparently didn't like waiting like all the rest of us on the course were doing and on more than one occasion hit into us while we waited for the group ahead of us to play. This clown was driving a personal cart with striped top. If you know who he is you may want to give him a refresher course in etiquette and you can hopefully prevent him form tearing up what is a very nice course.

Great weather. Course has recovered from the nematode issue and is back in good shape. Still one of my favorites. Staff great as usual but one MAJOR issue. My wife and I played as a twosome and we were stuck behind a group playing as a SIXSOME. Seriously, a SIXSOME. They would not allow us as a twosome to pass them. They were extremely slow as would be expected as a sixsome but wouldn't you think that at least one of them would be considerate enough to let a twosome play through? Nope....they made us wait on every hole and at the turn we just decided to replay the front 9 to get away from them. Unbelievable that these azzholes were allowed to ruin the day for other golfers. They need a ranger.

Played On 04/29/2018Mixed feelings about this course
I have played this course about 6 times in the last 3 months and I kept hoping it would get better but the conditions are just awful. The staff however is wonderful and I feel bad writing a negative review which is entirely about course conditions and not the staff. I have played there frequently lately as my wife is a beginner just learning the game and the course was not crowded so she didn't feel rushed or intimidated. The greens fees are very cheap but this is a case of you get what you pay for, There very few holes where the grass in the fairway is abundant and in good shape. Most fairways are mostly weeds and sand. What is not sand or weeds is bare dirt hard as concrete. It can make for a very frustrating golf experience to hit a ball well and where you want it only to find that your lie is horrible. The greens are actually not bad but weeds are beginning to take over. If price is your biggest criteria then I highly recommend but I just got too frustrated with the conditions to come back again.
Update- Played the course again on June 30 and things have improved. There is still a ways to go but the grass in the fairways was better although still a bit sparse in some areas. The greens were in good shape and the weed encroachment I mentioned earlier has been addressed. Very happy to see that an effort is being made to improve the conditions as I really like this course layout. Kudos....I will be back.
100% Agreed. We experienced the same thing several times at ED. It seems the management allows (turns the other cheek) to groups this size. It should NOT be allowed.
Its possible this is also a member issue, which is rampant at local courses, who think a monthly membership entitles them to show up and act like its their property with their "buddies"
It all comes down to proper and management, and education as to what it acceptable. TELL people at check-in to let others play though, TELL them about pace of play...
Unfortunately, we are living in a world of political correctness and have lost the ability to speak up to anyone, for anything, at anytime. Ridiculous
Thank you keysbear152 as we appreciate your 4-star rating and review. It is great to see you had an enjoyable time on the course and we hope you join us for another round soon here at Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.
Forgot to add one more thing about the yahoos that played as a sixsome. They drove their carts within inches of the greens and on one occasion actually caught the surface of the green. Unbelievable.
