Will be better later in the spring

I enjoyed AC with it's nice variety of holes and undulating greens. The tee boxes definitely need water and spring growth. In fact, many of the boxes where the white tees would normally be weren't being used because they were primarily sand. There were some bare and sandy spots in the fairways in some places which made a few shots difficult, and the greens had a few places that needed a little love. The course was hard and fast, so you can get a lot of roll on the ball in the fairways and through the greens. The course staff was wonderful, the carts are very high-quality electric models, and the clubhouse and bar/grill are great. My one wish is that the putting green had at least one somewhat flat area. It's a rollercoaster the entire way, which makes it hard to judge the true green speeds.

VERY long from blue tees

If you haven't played ER for a while, you should note that they appear to have altered the distances for each tee markers in the last 4 years. Two of us in our group who hadn't played there in a few years found that the blue tees were FAR longer than they used to be, and it appears that several of the previous blue tee boxes were now whites. This made several of the holes either unreachable or pretty close to it, including 1, 3, 5, 9, 12, and 18. The problem is that the white tees are less than 6000 yards, so you feel like you have to play the blues until you realize how much difference that actually makes. Please consider adding combo tees. The course was in fine shape for this time of year (beginning to green up), and the greens were very fast and smooth. Careful when getting above the hole! The course staff was great (except the virtually unresponsive drink cart girl). One request.... Please add more holes on the putting green. Three isn't enough. This might be a seasonal thing as the greens are just starting to grow in, but there were several people having to share holes.

Great course, but some doglegs unreasonable

Second time playing the course and really enjoyed a sunny, fun day. The course was in very nice shape, and the greens were pretty fast and rolled great. Fairways and bunkers were all in very good condition. My main problem is with the layout. There are many holes where the dogleg is just too close to the tee boxes, and you're forced to take a 3 wood off the tee. I'm a short hitter for 50 years old, averaging about 210 with my driver, so I imagine longer hitters may even have to take an iron. The trees on most holes are full-grown pines which make them impossible to go over, and unless you have a very pronounced hook or slice, going around the corner isn't an option in some cases. Therefore, you have to take a shorter club off the tee, and then you're hitting a longer iron for your second. It would be nice if they cut down some of the trees on the corners and replaced them with bunkers to give a little more risk/reward. Otherwise, the staff was fantastic, and the facilities, carts, etc were all first-rate.

Love the course, but inconsistent this time

Unlike others, we had no problem with pace of play today. Teed off at 11:30 as three singles, joined on #2 by a fourth. We all had our own carts, but still didn't have to wait on the group in front of us much. The Red nine was in prefect shape. The White nine greens, however, had some serious issues. There were bare spots, tons of unrepaired ball marks, and gouges. The green speeds were slower there as well, apparently to help the grass grow in. That was tough to adjust to. Fairways and bunkers were very good, though. The main starter didn't have me anywhere on the tee sheet even though I made the tee time very early in the day, and I was in the system when I checked in at the pro shop, but they still got me out on time.

Greens are hurting

This was the worst the greens have been since I've been playing NS. Many depressions and gouges all over the greens, and some greens have large areas around the edges that have been resodded that you simply can't play from. The rest of the course is in great shape, though, but the greens need a lot of work. NS doesn't offer a replay rate. Apparently the GolfNow rate is the best you can get. It was actually cheaper for us to play a second round at Rio Pinar than a replay here, and the greens were much faster and smoother there, but the fairways/rough weren't as nice. Everyone was friendly, but the grill was a little wonky. I'm not sure if they were training the girl working the register, but she wrote down our order (didn't punch it into the register), took it to the lady making the food who had to rewrite it down. Hence some food was messed up, but it was tasty. We paid later because they didn't ring it up right away.

Course is ok, but there are problems

Harmony goes through ups and downs with course conditions. While the fairways and rough are great, the problem right now is their greens. There are invasive grasses or weeds growing on many of the greens and especially the collars, so putts can get knocked off-line easily. Putting from the collars is not advised. One big problem is that there is no drinking water to be found on the course ANYWHERE, and there is no water fountain in the clubhouse at all. Water bottles are $3, and the beverage cart won't accept cash. We didn't see the bev cart until hole #8 (and then only one more time after that), even though we were probably the 3rd or 4th earliest group to tee off. The starter and pro shop both need to tell golfers that there is no water on the course and to buy some before they head out if they want it. There is also no marshal, and while we didn't have much of a problem with pace of play, a marshal might have seen the group in front of us driving right up next to the greens and playing their music so loud that it drown out our music from 200 yards away. If there is one good thing I can say about Harmony, the practice facilities are really good (other than the same weeds on the putting green).

Coming around nicely

In the recent past, Duran has had a problem with weeds on the tee boxes and in the fairways. They seem to have gotten this under control, and the course looks much nicer. The main problem with Duran is the greens. They are pretty soft, so balls make really deep ball marks, and even if people remember to fix them (many don't), unless they are really careful, it still leaves a depression. It takes a minute or so to clean up your line on nearly every green. Otherwise, the service tends to be really good, and little touches like available ice and water before each nine are nice. They could stand to have combo tees since the difference in the royal and gold tees is almost 500 yards.

Always fun, but....

I play Baytree quite a bit, and I always enjoy it. The fairways and greens are in great condition right now (fast greens), and the driving range is one of the better ones in the area (they never use mats). The price is reasonable compared to some other places nearby. The service was friendly all around. I saw the same problems, though, that are always there, and I wish they would fix them. The biggest is the rough. The rough is patchy and weedy, which means that you'll often get a dirt lie in between patches of grass, which makes hitting the ball infinitely harder than most rough, especially around the greens. There is NO water to drink on the course. Not a huge deal this time of year, but it's ridiculous in the summer, and that really needs to change (come on, ownership!). Luckily they sell bottled water in the clubhouse and beverage cart for only $1, but the beverage cart isn't available all day and may not come around for several holes or more. Other minor problems include bunker rakes that are in horrible shape, missing most of their teeth or half of their handles, and the fact that their putting green always only has three holes to putt to despite having room - and need - for more.

In great shape

It's been a couple of years since I played NS, and I'm glad I went back. I was very impressed with course conditions. Fairways were a little spongy in spots due to recent rains (I even had one drive plug), but definitely playable. Greens rolled very well and fairly fast. The overseeding has taken nicely, and the entire course was a pretty green. The practice area is very well maintained and extensive, and the carts are virtually new. There is a large, well-stocked pro shop and a nice bar, and everyone that I spoke with was very friendly, including the beverage cart girl. The guy in the pro shop even let me know that the online rates on their site and on GN were better than their walk-in rate, so I jumped on GN and got a good rate, especially for this time of year.

Well groomed, but need more tee options

Hawk's Landing is in very nice condition. They had punched the fairways/tees about a week or so ago (there is an aerification alert on GolfNow), but it was completely healed, and everything was lush and green. Greens are beautiful but slower than many courses of the same caliber in this area. Bunkers are all well maintained (and plentiful). The snack bar closed well before I made the turn at 5pm, so don't expect to get any food/drink in the afternoon, although they give you two small bottles of water on ice per cart - nice touch. My biggest complaint about HL is that they don't have enough tee options. There's a nearly 500 yard difference between the back tees and the next ones up and almost 400 yards between the next two. With the proliferation of combo tees, this course definitely could use them, especially given that there are several short holes, which means there are a few that are incredibly long from the back tees.

Great layout, but course conditions aren't great

The good:
- Very nice practice area with a large putting green and an aqua range.
- Greens were lovely and rolled true, but they were much slower than most other courses in the area.
- Great course layout. The holes are all well designed, and there is plenty of water to make things interesting. Each hole was pretty memorable.

The bad:
- SLOW greens, and they were very squishy when you walked on them like they had been seriously over-watered. I don't know how much rain Orlando has gotten recently, but I played two other courses nearby within a day of this tee time, and neither was wet.
- Tee box and rough were in pretty poor condition. It was very hard to find a place with enough grass to tee the ball up as well as find a good stance. Fairways were decent in most cases.
- EXTREMELY long distances between holes (1/4-1/2 mile in some cases). It's definitely unwalkable.
- Clubhouse looks brand new from the outside, but the inside, including the bathrooms, looks straight out of the 80's. Everything in the bathroom looks and feels old and worn, and the rest of the clubhouse looks like it's just storage.
- Food options were extremely limited in the pro shop and snack bar with only a few pre-made sandwiches other than snacks, and there were no food options near the course either, so eat before you get to the area.

The ugly:
- NO WATER JUGS ON THE COURSE and no beverage cart on a Sunday at peak playing time! Unacceptable for a FLORIDA golf course.

Excellent course, especially for the money

Eagle Creek is in very nice condition, especially against other courses in the area. It's a pretty course with nice houses and a good amount of water hazards to keep things interesting. The staff, and there are a lot of them, are all very helpful. The practice area is one of the better ones I've seen. This is my third round at EC, and I'll definitely be coming back and bringing guests.

Great little stopover on an I-95 drive

I drove from NC to FL and planned a 4 hour break on the course. I was immediately impressed when walking into the clubhouse. Everything was clean, stocked, and nice, including the pro shop and restaurant (I didn't try the food, but the server was friendly when I got water). The practice area was excellent. The course was in good shape, including green fairways. Even though the pro shop attendant said they got a bunch of rain, they only had a few holes closed to carts, and even those were pretty dry. The greens were mostly good (and pretty fast), but the edges sometimes had little to no grass. My main problem with the course is the layout. There is no tee option between 6125 and 6858 yards (no mixed tee option either). That's simply too big of a difference. There were also several severe doglegs where tall pine trees exclude a driver for anyone but the shortest of hitters, leaving approach shots of 150 or more yards. Even a sharp draw or fade wouldn't help enough. Shortening or cutting down a few trees would make it far more interesting as risk/reward holes rather than target golf.

Greens were slower than usual

As is usual, the course was in pretty good shape (rough is lacking and needs better grass), but the greens were much slower than usual. I'll give them a pass this time as we had a ton of rain the previous evening, so they may not have been able to cut them. The service was good all around, but every single person I've played with there has had the same complaint. There isn't a drop of water to drink out on on the course. While you can get some at the clubhouse or buy some from the bev cart, it's ridiculous and pretty dangerous to play ANY course in Florida during the summer and not have any water available for nine holes (the beverage girl only comes around so often and doesn't work all day). That needs to change. Also, Baytree really needs more than three holes on the putting green. Courses are too busy these days for that. I don't know any other course that has anywhere close to that few, and it doesn't cost any more to add a couple of holes.

Amazing experience!

My wonderful wife give me a round at the Stadium Course for my birthday, and it may have been one of the best days of my life. This may be obvious, but the course itself is immaculate. The greens are like glass and have subtle breaks, but our forecaddie Armando gave me excellent reads. His advise - when I was smart enough to listen to it - was spot on. Be prepared to spend the day in the sand (there's miles of it), every bit of it groomed to perfection. The 77,000 sq ft clubhouse is a must see. They give free tours of it on the hour between 9am and 4pm. Be sure to get a drink from the bar and sit outside on the patio overlooking #18 when you're done. The views are stunning. As many here have said, the practice facility is second to none, and yes, there is a replica of the 17th green on the driving range to practice on, and I'm so happy to say that the practice paid off. I'll brag long enough to say I birdied the real thing a few hours later from the back tees. I don't see what all those pros are worried about..... As a parting gift, they also give you a very nice, really beautiful metal bag tag, and they engrave it for you for free. Be sure to take advantage of the free use of the locker room/showers to get the full experience....all of it highly memorable

Wonderful course. Play it if you love bunkers.

I was very impressed by the facilities and the golf course. The carts appear to be new, and the GPS was very helpful having not played here before. The only problem with the carts is that the cart pickup and return is located on the opposite side of the very large clubhouse from the parking lot. The golf course itself was in immaculate condition, and the greens rolled great. If I could offer any suggestion about the greens, have the starter make each player put a divot repair tool or tee in their pocket, and ask them to use it. There were many unrepaired ball marks. Despite getting a decent amount of rain (in the middle of the round unfortunately), the course didn't play very wet. My only real complaint about the layout is that there are several bunkers that are too narrow (2-4') to take a stance in, so you have to have at least one foot outside of the bunker, and because they are so deep, the club is 1-2 feet below your foot level. That includes a bunker in the middle of the fairway on #15, so even though you hit a decent drive, you're now over-penalized since you may only be able to advance the ball a few yards (if you make great contact and don't leave it in the bunker). A bunker should at least be wide enough for the player and the ball to both fit. Otherwise, I enjoyed the challenge of the vast amount of bunkering and the narrow fairways in places. Great risk/reward holes including two reachable par 4's for long hitters. The facilities were also fantastic with a bright, airy bar and restaurant with great views of the course and good food. It's very cool seeing the all of the signed pro player golf bags on display in the bar. I even got to see the Leadbetter Academy world HQ when I waited out the thunderstorm there. Very nice building!

Great time. Best staff of any course.

Leaving the same review for both courses since I played both the same day.

Before I say anything else, I have to say that Mike in the pro shop is next level friendly and helpful. I called early in the day to ask if I could get out a little early due to expected weather, and he was very accommodating. I ended up getting caught out on the course cowering under a small bathroom overhang during my unexpected second round (the course was empty, and the first round flew by, so I decided to try and beat the weather. I didn't make it.). As I was calling the clubhouse to get the bathroom code, the shelter was nearly struck by lightning. Mike offered to have someone come out and pick me up via the adjoining road. Though I decided to wait it out, the gesture was very nice and helped make the day unforgettable. As for the courses, they are very beautiful and highly challenging. The Lakes course has three of the most unforgettable par 3's you'll find anywhere with two of them dropping nearly 50' in elevation with water carries and one on a peninsula out into Lake Trace with expansive views. There are elevation changes galore, and I would extremely discourage anyone wanting to walk. Besides, there are some incredibly long distances between holes. The carts are much better than what I've read from other reviews with nicely cushioned, high-end seats, but they are gas carts, and they are loud. The concrete cart paths are great on the Lakes course, but the blacktop paths on the Creek course have a ton of bumps because of root growth, so you have to keep your eyes pealed at all times or you might chip some teeth. The front nine of the Creek course has a couple of holes where knowing the course would have saved a couple of strokes, especially the par 5 third where the fairway stops suddenly and blindly from the tee and becomes an incredibly steep area of rough right where a good drive might stop, and if your ball doesn't have enough speed to get through it, you'll have the worst downhill shot over water you've ever imagined. Either buy a yardage book or play with someone who knows, but it would be nice if there were at least some pictures on the scorecard or on signs at the tee. The greens are very fast and roll beautifully, and the fairways were coming in nicely for this time of year. Like many others have said, these courses desperately need signage. It was very easy to either get lost or feel like you're lost, even if you're in the right place. I played the Lakes first, and when making the turn, I didn't yet understand that the Creek course didn't come back to the clubhouse, so when I saw signs pointing to #10, I was unsure if it was the right course or not. Other places very little to know signs at all, especially the path getting back to the clubhouse after #18 of the Creek. (hint: when you get to the road, take a left, and immediately look for the path on your right. It's the same color as the driveway it touches, and there's just a little yellow arrow to tell you where to go.) Overall, it was an awesome experience with memorable golf and a very friendly staff.

Getting much better

I first played Harmony last summer, and I was not only unimpressed, I was appalled at the poor conditions with more weeds than grass on the tees, fairways, and rough, especially for the big greens fees they charge. Yesterday I played there again after reading reviews that conditions have changed, and I'm happy to say they very much have. There are a few weeds and/or invasive grasses in the fairways and rough, but the grass is really full and green. The greens were fast and true. Harmony has a great routing with very interesting holes, but it would help to play with someone who has been there if you haven't because there are several blind shots and doglegs, making club selection and aiming difficult. I still think they charge too much ($110 full greens fees), but at least it's more worth the drive and the fee than it was previously, especially if you get a hot deal.

Something is going wrong with the course conditions

Normally you can count on Duran to have the best conditions around, but something is going bad here. Many of the greens have a lot of bare spots, and some of the fairways appear to have problems here and there as well. Where there aren't bare spots on the greens, there are remnants of old pitch marks, and still plenty of other fresh ones that no one seems to want to clean up. Greens are extremely bumpy. I played on a hot deal for $50 at 12:30pm on a Saturday, but based on the conditions, that was too much. Right now, it's about a $30 experience. Please water the greens and let them heal. Also, have your starter emphasize cleaning up ball marks! I played 18 at Baytree the same day, and it was in far better condition for about the same money.
