Winter Pines Golf Club
Played On 12/04/2017Very nice course
First time playing here. Great fairway and greens conditions. Not real crowded. Just a fun afternoon.
Deltona Club
Played On 10/29/2017Great course but very slow
Course was in great shape, staff was great, the course is quite challenging with many up and downhill long par 5’s. Only complaint was the extremely slow pace of play. We waited on almost every tee box. Don’t go on a weekend unless you have 5 hours or more to spend.
DeBary Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/27/2017Great course
Course is in excellent shape. Staff very friendly. My only criticism was that the pace of play was extremely slow. We sat on several tee boxes for 10 minutes or more waiting for a twosome ahead of us to play, but they were backed up by a threesome ahead of them, etc. it made the round extremely long. Otherwise a great course for the money.
The Country Club at Deer Run
Played On 10/23/2017Great staff, nice layout
Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Course layout is quite challenging but fairways are wide enough to make for a successful game for a novice player. Only complaint is that some of the greens had quite a bit of damage from the local sand hill cranes, and a few of them had newly installed turf, which didn’t allow the ball to track well. Greens had also recently been aerated and had a lot of new sand on them, making the putting that much more challenging. Give it a month and things should be in good shape. We’ll come back for another round.
Mayfair Country Club
Played On 10/17/2017Nice course, great staff
First time playing this historic course. Staff was extremely friendly and informative, giving us a short talk on some of the history here. Course is very forgiving and open, which is good for a novice golfer such as me. Only issue is that there is still a lot of water from the hurricanes and following rains pooled up on many of the fairways. It is playable but you have an extra set of hazards in many of the fairways due to the slow drainage. Otherwise a fun place to play.
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2017Decent for the price
First time playing this course. It has had some damage from the hurricane which has been pretty well cleaned up, but lots of rain in the weeks following the hurricane have made this course very soft and muddy in a lot of areas. If you can avoid the soft wet spots, it's a decent challenge for the money. Greens are a little patchy in places but certainly useable. If the weather clears up it should be in good shape in a couple weeks.
Casselberry Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2017Decent course considering.......
The course has an interesting layout, mostly fairways going between houses, etc. course was in fairly good condition considering the hurricane and amount of rain that they've had the past several weeks. There are a lot of muddy spots and if you aren't careful with your shots, your ball will end up deep in a mud hole. Probably will be in good shape in a couple more weeks if there is no more rain. I'll come back to play again when it dries out some more.
Lyndon Golf Course
Played On 09/05/2017Great for a tune up
Course is in great condition. Greens are smooth and pretty fast. Fairways could be mowed a little shorter, but not bad overall. This is a great course to work on your game and super value for the money. Staff are always friendly. Never very crowded so the pace of play is great. I'll be back again to practice more.
Vesper Hills Golf Club
Played On 07/28/2017Nicest course around
This is truly a great golf experience. The course is in great shape considering all the rain we have had this summer. Grass is well mowed and greens are fast. The back 9 of this course is a real challenge but very interesting. The restaurant is also great. Overall a great value for the money.
Lyndon Golf Course
Played On 07/03/2017Great place to work on your game
Fairways and greens are in great condition. Course is not very long but it is a great place to work on your game. Excellent value for the money. Wife and I have played it 4 times already this season and we will come back again.
Mary Calder Golf Club
Played On 05/17/2017New pro making some improvememts
I have played this course probably 8 times in the past two years. There have been three different pros here over that time. This course was kind of run down a year ago but the new pro has just come in and there are some upgrades being made in the condition of the fairways and greens. Course is an excellent value for the money and is getting better all the time. Friendly staff.
Bacon Park Golf Course
Played On 05/07/2017Good value
Considering that we haven't had much rain in the past two weeks, the fairways were in pretty good shape. Tee boxes were kind of beat up but useable. Greens are lightning fast. In general, the course was in very good condition and staff was very friendly. We'll be back.
Henderson Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2016needs some work
I've played this course three times this year. The first time in early spring things seemed to be better. I understand the county has taken the course over from the prior operator. It appears the prior operator had let things go for quite a while. While the greens were good with full grass cover, it appeared kind of fuzzy like it needed mowing and they were pretty slow. Tee boxes are ok. Many of the fairways have Bermuda grass which is dormant, however I think the entire course needs a top dressing of fertilizer. The fairway grass is almost non existent in may places and it makes it difficult to hit a good fairway wood or even an iron in many lies. I enjoy the layout but the fairway grass needs to be fertilized and perhaps by next spring it will come back thicker and make for a nicer overall round. Greens need to be mowed a little closer also. I'll come back again to play but hope they continue to make improvements. There are other courses in the area which will be more appealing if things do not improve here more than they have so far.
